essay needs to be about why I want to be confirmed and what does confirmation mean to me. I need the essay done by May 20. (needs to be done before the 19th tops!)

Do you know exactly WHAT Confirmation IS? Maybe you don't realize WHAT it is, and therefore don't know WHY you want to BE confirmed.
Confirmation was "developed" as a way for a person who was baptized as a child/baby to learn and confirm their baptism (now that you are old enough to make an "informed decision"). Confirmation teaches you the doctrines and precepts of your faith, which is what you've been doing in the classes you've been attending.
When you are done with the classes, the Confirmation Day, you are asked to "confirm" that your baptism into the faith was the right thing for you ... back when you were an infant... and now that you are older.
So, one way to look at the question being asked for the essay is to translate it... "Why was I baptized, and would I do so again today if I had the chance. And what does baptism mean to me and my faith."
Give this a try and I'm sure you'll have a better chance at writing that essay! Good Luck and God Bless!

Confirmation is tradition for the Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended upon the apostles and they were no longer afraid to teach God's word. It strengthened them spiritually and Confirmation is supposed to strengthen you spiritually. Why do you want to be strengthened spiritually? What effect is that going to have on your life?

You need to know why you are being confirmed - why are you? If you can't answer that, you shouldn't be doing it.
