Could there had been life ages ago on the other planets?
Why do we expect to find life at the time that ours exist?

Could the other planets have a different purpose than the earth?

I think from a creation stand point, that God created the other planets as servant to earth to sustain life where he has created it. Here.

Psalm 19:1 says that "the heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork." Everything that God has made, be it you and me, or wildlife, or angels, or stars and planets, have been created for His glory. When I see a view of the Milky Way or peer at Saturn through a telescope, I am amazed at the wonders of God!

First and foremost, do they need a purpose. Do we need a purpose?

Thats the simple question, why does everything need a purpose... when you stub your toe and forget about it 10 seconds later, was there a purpose to that, or merely a cause/effect relationship. I would stake my life on the notion that the planets exist because they exist. Nothing more to it, same with life on earth. Does it have a purpose? No, does it need one? No. Do I feel less fulfilled that I have no purpose, absolutely not, thats where free will comes in to play. I make my future.

THESE PLANETS ARE ROUND...BECAUSE THEIR SPINNING ORBIT MADE THEM ROUND...THEY WERE NOT ALWAYS ROUND AND THEY HAVE NOT ALWAYS BEEN WHERE THEY ARE NOW...THE CURRENT ARRANGEMENT TOOK MILLIONS OF YEARS TO TAKE PLACE...THE SUN MADE CLUSTERS OF SPACE DUST GATHER, FORMING ALL THE PLANETS....EACH PLANET'S GRAVITATION AFFECTS THE OTHERS...AND IT'S ALL RIGGED TO WORK AROUND THE SUN...IN AN IMPERFECT BALANCE THAT DOES NOT GUARENTEE US KEEPING THIS ARRANGEMENT FOREVER....IT WILL CONTINUE TO CHANGE UNTIL WERE GONE......SCIENTIFIC PROOF....ABSOLUTELY.....!!!
WHERE DOES GOD FIT IN ALL OF THIS...?.....
HE DOESN'T...THE STUPID BIBLE SAYS HE SIMPLY MADE THE EARTH...THEN THE SUN....THEN THE MOON AND STARS SO THEY WOULD ALL SHINE UPON THIS EARTH.....NONSENSE....
SO WHAT ARE THE OTHER PLANETS THERE FOR...?
A CHRISTIAN WOULD SAY THAT GOD IS SO GREAT THAT HE MANIPULATED EVERY SINGLE SPEC OF SPACE DUST TO FORM WHAT IS NOW FORMED....THAT THE BALANCE IS PERFECT BECAUSE GOD MADE IT AND THE OTHER PLANETS ARE THERE BECAUSE THEY'RE NEEDED TO KEEP EARTH'S ORBIT AS IT IS SPECIFICALLY.....
BUT EVERYTHING'S JUST JUST SPACE DUST CROSSING SPACE...SOME OF THE DUST GETS PULLES BY STARS FORMING PLANETS......OTHER DUST PARTICLES ARE JUST BURNED IN THE SUN OR OTHER STARS OR ARE STILL SUSPENDED WAITING FOR A NEXT GREAT MOMENT IN SPACE WHEN A BLACK HOLE WILL APPEAR AND ENGULF THEM OR THE BIG CRUNCH COMES AND REBOOT THE UNIVERSE........GOD IS DEFINETLY OUT OF ALL OF THIS......EVERYTHING USES SPACE.....ALL MATTER USES SPACE...EVEN SPACE DUST PARTICLES.....EVEN ENERGY.......IF GOD DOES NOT USE ANY SPACE, RATHER A METHAPHYSICAL REALM.....HE DOES NOT EXIST........

The other planets help form a shield with their gravity to deflect comets and asteroids away from the earth. Also to observe them

If you must impose purpose on blind occurrence, then Jupiter is the solar system's vacuum cleaner, hoovering up asteroids and other large rocks so that evolution on Earth only gets interrupted every 50 million years or so.

The other planets keep earth from getting too close to or too far from the sun.

If there is a God, I suspect he set the universe up like a Chia pet. The probability of the universe machine producing at least one species like us was apparently above 0.0

God is probably some kind of very weird gardener.

Purpose? Who said any planet has a purpose. They just are. They are planets. They don't have feelings, they aren't trying to do anything. They are just planets.

If not other reason that just to look pretty in the sky, also to balance out the orbit of the Earth, so we don't to smashing in to the Sun.

I agree.

Have you hear about the new earth like planet they found? call Gliese 581C, that would be cool if mankind could find a way to get there.
