My opinion is that a puppy should stay with his / her mommy and litter mates until 8 weeks. This helps them not only socialize and learn about what they are,it is healthier. Usually puppies can start nibbling around on either soft or moistened hard food at about 3 or 4 weeks. Just make it available to them and instinct and learning from mommy will take over. But just cause they START eating reg food does not mean they are all the way weaned. Lots of times puppies or kittens go thru a stage of nursing and eating reg food. Usually when they start nibbling on food , they still get most of their nourishment from moms milk , then it is kinda half and half, then towards the end they get most of their nourishment from the food. However, many mother dogs and cats will allow their babies to continue to nurse long after they need to just because they are good moms. We once had a mother cat that we had to separate from their kittens because she was little cat and it got to the point that the kittens were almost as big as her and she was still letting them nurse! It is better for puppies to get moms milk until at least 8 weeks for their immune system also. As far as shots, ask your vet. Also ask about worming because nearly all puppies have worms no matter how sanitary the environment. Good Luck

Pups should always stay with the dam for 10 weeks. There are things the dam has still to teach them at this age and you will end up with a better dog if you wait. Shots I always started between 4 and 5 weeks of age. It is important for them to have two sets before leaving the litter so that they have immunity built up before going out into the world. I always start feeding as soon as they show an interest in eating or when the dam starts cutting them off. She will feed them longer if you do a good job of keeping their nails cut so they are not scratching her up. This is usually about 4 weeks of age. I feed them puppy Eukanuba, milk replacer, a premium canned food as well. My vet suggests lambs milk as a replacer. I feed them this 3 x a day and free choice dry. I should have put this in past tense since I no longer am breeding show quality Dobes. Worming always is started at 2 weeks of age since they get them usually as soon as they start nursing through the dams milk and it is continued every 2 weeks for the first 6 months. People always remarked how muscular and well fed my pups always looked and this is why. I never had a thin looking pup, ever, never. I would have been embarrassed beyond belief if I had.

By humane law, the age of when puppies can leave the home is 8 weeks. They should be starting to wean at about to 6 weeks and be fully weaned by 7 weeks. Not to say they won't still attempt to nurse but mom should have cut them off by them. They need to examined by a vet at the recommendation of your vet. Call and find out when. I started my pup's worming at 3 weeks old and they got their first check up at 6 weeks. They need to get health certificates to be sold. Small breed puppies usually can stay at home longer to make sure they have fully developed and that they are well socialized with other dogs. Taking them away too soon can lead to developmental problems and aggression issues.
8 weeks seems like a long time but its for the best of your litter and their soon to be new owners.
Take care and good luck

8 to 10 weeks old. They should be vet checked at least once and already have 1 shot. then they are ready to go to there new homes.
They can start to eat puppy mush at 4 weeks old. Soak puppy food in warm water break it up with a fork until it looks like loose oatmeal.
First shots should be given at 6 weeks old and wormed at 6 weeks also.

they shouldn't leave home until 7 to 8 weeks, and in small breeds 12 weeks, puppies are the cutest at 5 weeks, but to remove them from the litter at that age prevents them from gaining important social skills, alot of dog aggressive and super submissive or fearful dogs where removed from the litter too young. Some vets will start the boosters at 6 to 8 weeks, then another round a few weeks later. If you never have had the mom to the vet be very careful about walking her in areas with alot of dirt or other dogs you can bring home something called parvo, and make sure you keep the puppies away from strange dogs until they get the second booster, Normally you do the first booster then the new owner follows up.

8-12 weeks old is the recommended age for re-homing. They should get their first round of booster shots at 8 weeks (and preferably before they're re-homed).
They'll be weaned onto puppy chow between 5-7 weeks old, it'll vary with every puppy. Momma dog will know when to wean them.

8 weeks at VERY minimum til they can go to homes.. First shots at 6 weeks, second at 8 weeks, then you'll tell your puppy buyers that they'll need a 3rd shot at 12 weeks and then 1 more at 16 weeks w/ a rabies shot.
The'll likely start checking out food within the next week sometime.. Feed mom in the same place you have the puppies and they'll watch her, and will gain interest in food.. Soak their food with water NOT HOT, and make it mushy and soupy.. Once they start eating food, make sure that they are also given plenty of water to drink.. Mom will slowly wean them off.. BUT always allow mom to feed them first, then offer them the kibble, that way they are getting the best food and if they are still hungry, they can supplement that with the kibble.

8 to 12 weeks. The smaller ones may need to stay with Mom longer.

Puppies are usually ready to leave their Mum at 8 weeks of age ~ although at this age they are ready to learn 'social skills' and some breeders prefer to leave their 'departure' till 10 weeks of age.
The vet will advise you of appropriate inoculations they require. Also they need to be wormed ~ so ask your vet (depends on their weight & size)
Good luck!!!!! :)
