The supply of carbon for the carbon cycle is the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Producers take carbon dioxide from the atmosphere or from the water if the producer is aquatic. Producers use photosynthesis to make carbohydrates from the carbon dioxide and water.

Plants use some of the carbohydrates made during photosynthesis as an energy source for growth, development, and so on. The process of using carbohydrates to build energy molecules is cellular respiration.

Consumers must eat parts or products from producers or from other consumers. Consumers get their carbon in this way -- eating the carbon compounds contained in other living things. Consumers use cellular respiration to get the energy out of the carbohydrate.

Cellular respiration performed by producers and by consumers returns the carbon dioxide to the atmosphere or to the water.

Oh, I thought you wanted "Science" to help you with some problem. Ha ha! Like, "I'm falling from an airplane, how can science help me?"
