some teachers just dont like it when you call them by their first name. atleast all the teachers i know!

Just by your question, it's clear that you are a guy and that you are clueless.
Since she is your teacher, she deserves respect. If she did not specifically give you permission to call her by her 1st name, doing so is disrespectful. No wonder she gets angry at you!
You need to learn some manners.

You are lucky she didn't turn you into the principle. When I when to high school a member of the wrestling team was stupid enough to do as you did. He not only got punished by the principle (detention), he was also disciplined by the wrestling coach (he was ineligible to wrestle at several matches). You are lucky I'm not either that teacher or the principle.

probably not... as a teacher myself (i`m an english tutor), i don`t mind being called by my 1st name...however, i teach individual private sessions with my students, NOT in a school setting, where it is more appropriate for students to address the faculty & staff by their titles & last names...this is sort of an unwritten code here in the u.s....however, when i taught english abroad, it was perfectly acceptable within the schools for the students to call the instructors by their 1st names ("teacher so-and-so")...

Maybe, maybe not but it is rude to call an adult by their first name. Even ruder is when she asks you not to and you continue.
