having children when they are not financially able to support them etc...

I thought Christians were to be responsible...but default rates are equal among Christians and non-Christians alike...

Why is it the responsible ones left holding the bag for the losers who suck off of the middle class...get it people...when you default on loans or credit cards...it is not the companies that are left holding the bag...or the ultra wealthy...it is the middle class that are responsible people...

Middle class people are paying for all of the poor choices that irresponsible people are making.....

My question...why do so many Christians default on loans? Why do so many Christians have children that they cannot afford to raise on their own? Why do you expect society to pay for your poor choices?

Being a Christian is not necessarily the same as being a good person.

Dear Dee G,

It seems like you are taking a personal situation and making a broad generalization.

i am a Christian who has worked in the mortgage industry for nearly 12 years (10 plus as an underwriter). First let me say i'm not sure where you are getting your information that default rates among Christians and non-Christians are alike because it would be illegal to ask about a person's religious affiliation when taking a loan application-- their are organizations who make sure that groups are not discriminated against, but even if such, such data would not be available to the public.

Secondly, let me say that people default on loans for all sorts of reasons. People often default on loans due to personal tragedy (death of a loved one), loss of job, etc. (extenutating circumstances) that cause them to not be able to pay their mortgage on time.

You make all sorts of jumps. You say Christians are "losers" who leave the middle class holding the bag. Excuse me, but are you saying that there are no Christian middle-class people?

Assuming that your sources of data are legitimate- you can't make an assumption that those who claim the name of Christ and act irresponsibly are expecting society to pay for their poor choices. i agree with the point that it's un-Christ like but i've also seen so many loans in my years in the mortgage business to know that there are a lot of individual circumstances- so for you to make a generalization about a group seems more to be a personal agenda than a legitimate point of contention.

How are you left to pay for other's bad choices? If a person defaults on his/her loan the bank respossess the house and this is why you have homes in foreclosure which are sold below market value.

Seemingly you seem to be trying to generate animosity towards a group as opposed to making a concrete point. i'm not saying that Christians always act like Christians but i'm saying that your data is unfounded, and your points do not connect.

Kindly,

Nickster

First of all - there are people who are poor under no fault of their own- My husband is permanently disabled and cannot work- he did not ask for the injuries that he has- POOR PEOPLE ARE NOT NECESSARILY IRRESPONSIBLE!! Sometimes the richer a person the least responsible they can be with the resources they have. I do not expect society to pay for the poor choices people make, that is not fair- but do not lump all poor people in the same category.

You are talking about taxes. I don't mind giving or paying taxes. I would much rather the poor get it than our war machine.
Obviously some people do need to take more responsibility but a lot of kids would be out of foster care and off the payroll so to speak if we treated addicts and controlled drugs instead of the war on drugs. Lots of parents in for possession you know. Heck we pay for them too. They feed them diets high in processed grains which we now know affects behavior and mood negatively too. We live in an insane world. My only comfort is my Lord. I know you'll think religious right did it and yeah they did but I'm for Him and not them.

That is what your credit score is for. To show that you are responsible and can be trusted with credit. If you are getting poor rates, fix your credit. Quit blaming other people. Nice try blaming Christians though. Great generalization!!!

You must be a Republican.

Well, its just good nature to do it. We watch after other people. When they do default on their loans they have many negative consequences and they need education so they don't make the same mistakes.

becasue that's what we do as Americans... It could have been your poor choice, and thaen you wouldn't be griping... Plus, it is the duty ofthe rich to pay for the less fortunate... I'm rich and ya know what? every year I pay 20-50 K... do I begrudge where the money goes? no, because nowhere but america could I make 375k/yr... so shut up and be kind to our fellow humans...
