Find a bedspread/curtains with three main colors, and paint 2 facing walls one color. 2 other facing walls second color, and trim the third color. Frame poster, pix with colors from trim or opposite walls. Get a rug with in one of the colors.
Choosing colors - does she like pastels? brights? jewel tones?
Tell her to pick colors that make her feel good, not just because the are in style!

you can go to a paint store or hardware store and they have swatches (or color circle) there that you can bring home to her, then go back and decide on the paint you want. I think she might like any shade of violet and yellow, even true greens look good with that. Or different shades of blues. You can add a baseboard or make some cutout shapes and put them on the wall or paint different shapes on the wall (mark them off with true painter's tape). Maybe get your daughter involved in doing the painting. And then add some draperies or frilly curtains for the window. I'd make sure that there was a shade as well that would block the sunlight so she can sleep well. You might want to add some square pillows and something like a cedar chest or some kind of box that she can put her misc stuff in to keep her room neat. Make her a colorful (maybe with flowers on it) bag for dirty clothes. A light colored rug would make the room look larger. Some people like book cases (it holds a lot of papers as well). Maybe a stand for her computer (make sure the light from the window comes in at her back to prevent glare. Or maybe add a colorful and happy looking picture that has trees in it. Be sure she has a large closet and a full-length mirror on the back of her closet door. Have fun.

If you want something mod and cool try black, [fuschia] pink, and white. If you are really wanting to use orange try a teal, with the orange and maybe a tan or brown shade to neutralize it. Black, light grey and electric blue also look cool. There are some really cool websites that let you pick colors and view them together to get a feel for how they are together. Try Sherwin Williams website, HDTV website, or Home Depot or Lowe's.

go to this site, they have lots of rooms done up in themes, mostly for teens. http://mariesmanor.hotusa.org/index.html
Or go to lowe's.com, click on project center & use the virtual painter to try out hundreds of colors in sample rooms to see what she'd like best.
