You could send a congrats! but that won't mean anything to her/him if it ever comes back. I just went through this myself & everything is fine now..the best card I got was an "inspiriational" one and the 2nd best was an "encouragement". Either way, you're letting them know you're thinking about them in the long term. Good luck.

I would try and be a little creative and purchase a lot of ribbons for the cure and hang them from a small silk plant or hot glue it to a lamp shade. You can even make a cake to look like the pink for the cure symbol. Check out the website below. There are a lot of items that you can purchase for breast cancer survivors without giving a card. For Breast Cancer Awareness Month each year, I make a batch of sugar cookies, shaped like ribbons and frost them pink. I give them out in cute little cookie gift boxes to friends and coworkers. Inside the box, I put information about breast cancer awareness. This can be as simple as printing up information on the computer and laminating it. I do this with the breast self exam instructions. You can pick up the cookie cutter at a local craft or kitchen store for a few dollars. As for the cookie recipe, you can't go wrong with this easy sugar cookie recipe from About.'s Southern Cooking Guide, Diana Rattray.

I dont know if a congratulations card is right, but Hallmark has cards for every occasion, there are ones for people after serious illnesses and surgeries and things like that. Also you could get a religious card they can fit almost any occasion. You can also make her a card then you could say exactly what you want and it would come from the heart!

I am unaware of what store sells them, but there are kiosks that allow you to chose a card and choose your own words to comfort the recipient. Tell her how you feel in your own words. Congratulations may be taken out of context especially if the two of you have ever disagreed about things in the past. If she is a friend your true feelings will last longer.
