Muslims believe Jesus was the Christ (Anointed one) and the Messiah (Messach - messenger for the Jews, the reuniter of the tribes) - But it was up to the Jews to follow his example (His sunnah, as it were)
As for Jews, you are right. There is an perception that they pick and Choose the bits of the Halakah that suit, but the same is true for most westerners these days, alas.
