I'm not asking this question for any other reason than to get you to think about your walk with God. How many people do you ACTUALLY try to witness to in a week's time? Now before you start giving yourself accolades, remember there IS a difference between giving a half-hearted Jesus loves you speech to someone and actually having a burden for their salvation. During last night's service I realized that alot of the christian that I know, including myself, aren't doing enough to reach this world.

You are right, often times we allow ourselves to get caught up in the cares of this life and lose our zeal for the Lord. We need to all begin to view the lost as God veiws them, as lost sheep with no shepherd, whom He loves deeply, desiring that they would turn to Him in genuine repentance, having a godly sorrow over their sins. We must all start to do what we can, even if it seems miniscule in our own eyes. God is at work in us to will and to do His good pleasure.

Matthew 24:14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

Well lately, my sharing is limited mostly to online as I am mostly housebound. When I was out and about it was probably around 20 a week. I believe that being Christian and politely offering a Witness by sharing my beliefs, and trying to let my life reflect these beliefs, is a 24/7 thing.

amen!

But I would say that different methods must be used to reach different people. Our American culture is very resistant to or simply ignores someone preaching on a street corner or handing out tracts, etc.
whereas in another culture, people will gather around and gladly take literature, sit down and listen, etc.

But let's remember: we are called to BE a witness, not "do witnessing".

god bless

Truth be known. I haven't done a face-to-face witness to anyone since I retired last August. I had more of an opportunity when I was working.

My witness now is by my actions. But if the opportunity arises I will witness.

Really, everyone who respects and obeys Jesus Christ goes from door to door to teach his neighbors about the Bible's good news. It is interesting that only the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is so clearly identified with the preaching work; globally nearly 7 million preach publicly each month.

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you.

(Acts 5:42) Every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

(Acts 20:20) I did not hold back ...from teaching you publicly and from house to house

It's sad when someone who claims to respect the bible actually insults or even advocates attacking these peaceful preachers. Sad but completely expected.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching... You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

Really, if someone goes out of their way to disregard Christian preaching, what is he saying about himself?

(Luke 10:1-17) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos... “He that listens to you listens to me too. And he that disregards you disregards me too. Moreover, he that disregards me disregards also him that sent me forth.”

So, being a Christian is all about trying to convince others to be Christians?

I have an idea, why don't you go make Jesus-shaped cupcakes or something, and give them to homeless people? How about donating some of that extra cash to a children's hospital? If you really want to be like your Christ, you've got to do more than just convince others to attend church with you. I think YOU need to think about YOUR "walk with God".

Honey, it's not as though we atheists don't KNOW about Jesus. In fact, we probably know way more about the Bible than you Christians in general.

The problem is that the story is incoherent and lacks any credible evidence.

If you can come up with something compelling in the reason and evidence department, then you might make more sales.

Hey brother,

I feel you on this. I'm a Christian (born-again, protestant), and don't know how many I witness to. I hand out tracts daily and witness as much as possible.

However, by the grace of God, I am able to lead a team of Chrisians out every saturday and we do one to one witnessing in NYC and NJ, and also open air preaching.

We don't just say "Jesus loves you", but we explain why one needs to trust in Jesus.

We explain that if you have broken God's holy 10 commandment's, which is what sin is (1 John 3:4, Rom. 7:7), you will be found guilty on judgment day (Heb. 9:27), and the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23) and the punishment is hell (Rev. 21:8). Since God is just and loves justice (Is. 61:8), He must punish sin (2 Th 1:7-9).

However, out of God's love for us, He so graciously sent Jesus Christ to take the punishment for our sins (1 Pet. 2:24), paying our fine for breaking God's law. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Rom. 6:23) Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross for our sins, then rose from the dead in the flesh (1 Cor. 15:1-4). This is the gospel, as Paul explains in the previous scripture.

If you repent, which means to turn from your sins (Luke 13:3,5) and trust in Christ, you will be forgiven for your sins, because the wrath of God was unleashed on Jesus so that we may be forgiven of our sins (Isa. 53:5 and 10, 1 John 2:2, John 3:16, and Rom. 10:9-10). Then you will be born-again (John 3:3) and made new (2 Cor. 5:17). You will brought into the kingdom of God (John 3:3) and you will be called His child (John 1:12-13), and spend eternity with God (Rev. 22).

Note: "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the. gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Eph. 2:8-9)

You cannot be saved from the punishment of God by adhering to any rituals, sacraments, "penance", pilgrimages, etc. It is ONLY through the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Heb. 10:12-14), who is the only one fit to pay the punishment for sin (John 3:16).

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. " (John 14:6)
