The person calling me identified herself as Investigator Banks. I was supposed to call her back at 866.563.7118, ext 7668. I first searched under the phone number, but couldn't bring up anything. So when I called, I just got a recording to leave a message. I read some of the other messages and responses and glad I did. I don't know who these people are but if this is a scam, I'm filing a complaint with the attorney general.

Yes, it is a scam. Many people have been receiving these phone calls from the BWA, sometimes under the name of the Fraud Investigation Division or something similar. Don't give them any information. If they call you again and they speak to you, ask them for all information concerning the matter in writing. I think it is a very good idea to contact your AG's Office and BBB.

The area code (866) is a domestic toll free prefix. I'd suggest you disregard making further calls to it!

If it was a legitimate "investigator" they would have had you call a central number instead of one with an answering message.

In my official capacity...I ALWAYS leave my dispatchers number so that I can be verified by a legitimate source.

Best wishes.
