I dont reccomend you losing more weight because at 5'5 125 pounds is almost underweight for your height, I would just concentrate on toning up especially if your goal is to look good by summer. Strength train atleast 3 times a week, this means using 5 pound dumbbells to do squats and to work your arms and maybe even doing Pilates or dance classes.

The best tip is not to impose extremely fast weight loss upon your body. It's harmful to your organs and health. This doesn't mean that it's healthy to be overweight, for which we know of the dangers.
Research shows that weight lost through changing lifestyles, including exercise and diet, is the most likely to be more permanent, than just 1 of these alone.
I've lost almost 50 pounds, over a couple of years and am a psychologist. My advice, start exercising more but don't overdo it -again another strain on our systems. And eat differently, getting more fresh ingredients, such as vegetables and fruit. Always have a good and nutritious breakfast.
Weigh yourself regularly, say every couple of days, so that you get frequent feedback on the results of your plan. Adjust your routines accordingly, if you don't get the reductions that you want.
Make a small number of changes at a time, say 2 or 3 a month, so that you don't feel overloaded.
Review what you're eating and target those things for reduction that add alot of calories, such as chocolate, high fatty content fast foods, etc. Minimising and losing these will help alot, and probably won't affect you nutrionally. Never 'treat' yourself with these, when you've lost weight. Instead, 'treat' yourself for doing something like 3 runs in a week, preferably not with choc's etc.
If you slip-up, don't be hard on yourself. Maybe have 1 day in 7 when your plan is a little more relaxed, so that you don't feel that you've totally lost out.
Walk more. If you have a car, park further from where you're going, even at supermarkets etc. I love the parking spots furthest from the doors.
Set achievable goals that don't punish nor are likely to result in failure - this is where changing bits at a time comes in usefully. Eg. Add some aerobic exercise, at the start of the month, add some different exercise later in the month.
Joining with others who have similar goals is also likely to help, where you will be supported. Steer clear of those who may pull you back or down.
If you have any psychological issues, get them addressed, such as via counselling. Many of us who are or have been addressed have low self-esteem and it is good to improve this, not just via getting the body that we want.
There's a good book 'Mindless Eating: Why We Eat More Than We Think' by Dr Brian Wansink. Some great tips in there for cutting stuff and lifestyle changes related to eating habits.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mindless-Eating-More-Than-Think/dp/0553804340 £11.49 from Amazon, or available elsewhere.
Just some quick thoughts. Please don't be harsh on yourself. Good luck, you can do it! Rob

Without wishing to seem impolite Type ' weight loss ' into the search for questions box and you will see the answers to the 20 questions like yours that clutter ' Answers ' every day, together with their standard answers.
Type in also ' Answers swamped with weight loss questions!?' and you will see what regular contributors thing of this problem.
As far as weight loss is concerned I will give my stock answer I am afraid, however it is interesting to see how close this is ( I have been using it for over 2 months), to a recent paper from University of California. They did a meta-analysis of all the work on weight loss over the past few years. ( summary) It showed that 2/3 of people who diet yo-yo to a higher weight, none of the faddy diets of diet pills work and that rapid weight loss doubles heart attack risk!
They seemed to suggest the only hope was modest calorie reduction + EXERCISE.
This is a news report of the article:

I have to admit I have a 'stock' answer for this question, since if you look it appears 20-30 times every day!!!
Type 'guaranteed weight loss' into google, you will find 1 1/2 million sites!
Look around you if ANY of these things worked would we be getting so overweight?
We are what we eat, but we are at least as much what we don't do. Calorie intakes in 1900 and 1950 were higher than they are now, we just don't use them up!
Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg. Drop to about 1,500 calories.
Take a healthy amount of exercise 30-40 minutes of vigorous exercise per day 4-5 days a week. I hate to think what percentage of the UK population does that 2%? 5%?
I have seen hundreds of questions with this same pattern :- I am fat, tell me where on line I can get this super diet or herbal/dangerous/illegal drug that I hear will fix it for me in 10 minutes without the need for me to get off the couch!
No fixes pal , less in more out, its the only way!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

Work out your Body Mass Index using the link below. That will give you a four digit figure.
That figure is the number of calories your body needs to eat everyday just to survive.
In other words, if you layed in bed all day and did nothing, this is the number of calories you'd need for your vital organs to function.
i.e. if your BMI was 1359, then your body needs a minimum of 1359 calories a day just for you to exist.
So. if your calorie intake doesn't exceed your BMI value, then every activity you do on a daily basis (exercising. walking, working) will come straight out of your fat stores, as your body will be deficient in calories.
It's simple mathematics. Good eh?
