Capsouto Frere is the loveliest restaurant with delicious, affordable food. We took my mother there for Mother's Day a few years ago and they made her feel so special; she just loved it. (They do wonderful holiday and special occasion meals)

Keep in mind that Mother's Day is the absolute worst day of the year to go out to eat due to crowds the more well known places are probably already booked solid. I can't think of a worse place to go than Tavern on the Green even if you could get a reservation....it must be a zoo that day and already aren't known for food or service.

I don't know what your budget is but if you are willing to shell around $50 bucks per person not including wine drinks or desert you might want to try I Trulli on East 27th great Italian food and they have an outside garden. Another idea is Porcao Churrascaria 360 Park Ave. S.
(26th St.)
Manhattan, NY 10010 Which is a $51 prixe fixe all you can brazilian place it's pretty big so you could probably get reservation and I think they are offering discounts for Mother's Day. Anyway those are two that are in my neighborhood...

It's a little late as you have to make reservations for most restaurants, and Mother's Day is coming up. You might try the Atlantic Grill on the Upper East side, around 77th, I think on 3rd. Or also, if you want to do Brunch there is a wonderful place in the area that doesn't take reservations, called Annie's, it's around the same area, but I think on Lex,I'm not sure. I love the place. Great pancakes and great salads and other things.
Or on the Westside for Brunch there is the Popover Cafe, also, no reservations, and wonderful food for brunch. I'm trying to think of places with no reservations. There are 2 Sarabeths, one on eastside, one on westside, both good for brunch or for dinner.
Hope I've been of some help.

Try Tavern on The Green in Central Park. The location is beautiful especially on a nice day. After you eat you can take a walk through the park and spend more time together with your mom!
