Christians do not "do" anything to get saved.
The only thing Christians "do" is surrender their lives to the care of GOD and choose to stop sinning.
Somehow the world gets this simple fact all bent and twisted out of shape into what we are supposed to "do". Hence the statement. We're not perfect - Just saved. We are however being conformed into perfection, For some of us (like me) this could take a few lifetimes :)

It may be an accurate statement, but it bespeaks a level of arrogance. God decides who is saved. We don't get to make that decision.
It makes all religous people look bad as it confirms the suspicion some have that many people are religious only because it allows them to feel superior to others.

Interesting that they require saving for not being perfect... what kind of hoity-toity prima donna is this deity, who can't cope with his own creation?
Aside from that I agree with many of the comments above, it's a holier-than-thou attitude and an excuse to continue acting however they please. Since they're saved, what incentive is there to be better people?

Many people expect a lot from Christians but we all fall short from the glory of God...and that is why Christians are not perfect either. We are saved ( from hell ) because we accept Jesus as our Savior. : )

When I was in college I bought my sisters old car and it had that as a bumpersticker. I papered it over with a Chicago Cubs bumpersticker before the keys were in the ignition.
It's creepy on a lot of levels - not the least of which is WHY would you tout your inperfections when you're behind the wheel a several tons of killing force?

John Paul II says "to be Christ." Jesus says "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect." Yes we are sinners and we hope for eternal salvation but salvation is an every day thing. As Paul has said "work out your salvation with fear and trembling." We are not perfect, we are sinners, but we are working towards perfection. We are saved by Grace alone, but our response to that grace is faith and works.

I believe that no one can be perfect. Saved means you believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried and rose again. That is the ONLY way to get to heaven.

It makes me want to slap the person who says it. It's your basic "nana-nana-boo-boo" argument, and coming from an adult, that sort of thing sounds exceedingly ridiculous.

It is an inadequate explanation of Christianity, but it isn't necessarily inaccurate.

It sounds like something a conceited, preppy, high-school girl would say. It has that whole "holier than thou" attitude attached to it.
(I was going to say something other than "high-school girl" but it would have been starred out.)
