It would drive up the costs of the raw material out of which it is made. For example, biodiesel is often made from things like used french fryer oil. As a result, there is, or will be, a shortage of used fryer oil. Many people have gotten the used oil for free or very cheaply. That will end and it will become expensive. And if these products get really common, with many large suppliers, it will cause the price of fossil fuel to go down.

complications of having to provide two different types of stuff. And the stuff not being available all the places you'd like.

If i want to power my robot factory in tanzenia i can't bring fuel from colorado. it sucks.
