Definetly save it as a jpeg. (depending on your software, you may also save the document as a word doc). However, there are still a lot of people who use wordstar, or some other word program that is not compatable with MS Word. If you save it as a jpeg, it is like a picture, and anyone mac or IBM type computer, with MS word or not can view it. In addition, you should also be able to save the jpeg file with a selectable size, so that you can reduce the file size down so that it will open or load quicker, and not take so much bandwidth to email.

It is usually best to send smaller files by email.
The JPEG standard includes compression and is good for photos etc. you can produce small files with JPEG.
TIFF files tend to be quite large.

jpg is always good. Most widely accepted.
If you want to send as a document, scan it as OCR (optical character recognition) into a Word document.

it depends on who you are sending it to and for what purpose:
If it is a friend that just want to see the paper then jpg is enough. If you are sending it for your boss or biz related stuff then pdf is more professional.
