Rev 19:10 At that I fell down before his feet to worship him. But he tells me: “Be careful! Do not do that! All I am is a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who have the work of witnessing to Jesus. Worship God; for the bearing witness to Jesus is what inspires prophesying.

Because he was an Alien scientist, not an angel... it was embarrassing to him when the natives thought he was a god!

Another reason, along with not worshiping a created being,

John as an anointed Christian, was to be appointed as a King over the angel.

Therefore in showing respect (bow down, which the literal Greek word for worship means)

The angel being 'under' John was not to accept John's act.

It's interesting that in the KJV, at Rev 3:9 It is said that the Jews will 'worship' Christians.

Because,"...All I am is a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who have the work of witnessing to Jesus. Worship God; for the bearing witness to Jesus is what inspires prophesying."

"Why do men bow down to men?" As in Asian culture? It is a sign of restect, greeting, ordeparture. And is different than bowing in worship, in most cases.

I spend most of my time with kids, others and my own.

Of course, bowing down does not necessarily equate to worship. In some cultures it is just a sign of respect for others. But the Bible simply is saying that one should worship God only and not a created creature.

Angels are truly privileged creatures - they are used directly by Jehovah and they work alongside Jesus. They have access to Jehovah's presence. Their power is far greater than ours. However, they viewed John as a fellow slave, a humble slave of Jehovah as they are. They are not carrying on their work for glory or honour for themselves, they are working to please Jehovah as John was, and as hopefully, we are today.

They recognise that only Jehovah is to be worshipped as Jesus explained in Matthew 4:10. There should be no indirect worship of God through an intercessor such as a saint or angel, we should direct worship to Jehovah alone.

theres a difference in bowing and worshipping. John didnt know what to think of the being before him ,maybe he thought it was the Lord. But the angel knew wasnt, the lord so in his humility and being a true servant of God, he corrected John.

Angels are like that. Men look to other men to show them what to do instead of asking god. Meanwhile, these pastors speak so much for God that they start thinking that they ARE God. They could learn a lot from the angels.

Because we are only to worship God. Never man. So if you receive great and powerful revelations from a person do not put them in the place of God. "He is a jealous God and will not share with another."

Because this angel knew that All forms of worship must be directed to Jehovah himself and not to anyone or any thing.

I would guess the same reason Israel wanted a king instead of GOD. They wanted something that the world could see. GOD told them through Samuel that he would serve them, but they would serve a king. The people of GOD still demanded something they could touch and see so they got Saul. What a deal that was (sarcasm)

May the Lord richly bless you
