There is no risk involved - nothing will happen to the tattoo BUT what is very real (I know this after doing thousands of tattoos on women) - there is a direct connection to a lower pain tolerance when women are cycling. Some will tell me I am wrong, but a lot of these women are repeat clients and many of them will schedule around the time of they periods.

They do that for dental work too - in fact, so do I. I am way more sensitive around that time.

You will be fine. Just be sure to take all the same precautions like eating a good meal, staying calm and don't take unnecessary medications before your tattoo. If you can stand to, try not to take Midol or anything for cramps until after your tattoo is done just to be safe. Never know what kind of reaction your body will have from different combinations. Let your artist know to a point so that he knows you may ask for breaks if it's a longer tattooing time. I was cramping a little while I got mine and I was in an odd side ways position because mines on my ankle. Just head to deal with it and stayed focused. You'll do fine. Good luck! Happy tattooing!

No your period won't effect the tattoo. If anything, your body can withstand more pain while on your period. The only thing you want to avoid a day or so before getting your tattoo is drinking alcohol. It thins your blood and can cause you to bleed a lot while getting the tattoo (and that will frustrate the heck out of the artist).

There's no reason why this should be an issue as long as you're feeling fit and well. The only thing that might pose an issue is if you're taking any painkillers for period pains, because tattoo artists often won't work on anyone taking these kinds of medications - they can thin the blood and therefore interfere with the tattooing process. If you need to take something for period pains then call the studio in advance and check with them, as they may not be prepared to tattoo you, for this reason.

Personally, the first day of my periods is often so absolutely horrendous that I wouldn't get tattooed then, just because I'm too busy throwing up - but that's just me and my weird hormones. But after that one ghastly day I know I'm fine - I've gone and given blood during my period with no ill effects, for example. You know your own body and its limits, so be guided by it - as long as you feel basically OK, then I see no problem getting tattoed. I'd suggest making sure you stay hydrated, and eating something sensible (something with complex carbs that'll release energy slowly throughout your tattooing session) to keep your strength up.

But if you find you don't feel up to it, then don't worry about postponing getting tattooed. You want to have a positive experience, after all.

Hope this helps - have fun getting tattooed!

Never heard that before. No alcohol/drugs etc. Eat well 2 hours before and breathe and you will be ok. Methinks you have heard an old wives tale. In those adverts for tampax they do loads of rollerblading so you should be fine!!!

You have got to be kidding me?
Weaker when your on your period?
What have you been reading?

Your fine to get a tat as long as your not on blood thinners, taking alcohol as it is also a blood thinner. I wouldnt suggest getting inked if you taking antibiotics for some kind of massive infection either.

what? how is your body weaker? your body is just shedding some lining built up over the last 28 days... nothing dangerous or taxing is happening to you. there is no reason to not get tattooed now.

OKAY This is a good one.I have 15 tattoos and at least half were done on my period.Whoever is feeding you this info probably also believes that dying your hair when pregnant will also dye the baby's hair TOTALLY FALSE.The only things that should stop you are disease and lack of skin.

You know yourself better than anyone else does.
You need to be as comfortable as possible.
Talk to your artist, if you feel a bit worried about it.
But i say, just eat a good healthy meal, drink a lot
of water and try to relax. Good Luck........ Peace

I have never heard anything bad about this and don't see why in any way this would effect the tattoo.
Good Luck!
