car subwoofer without amp?

Do you need a amplifier to put a subwoofer in the car? I not, how do you wire the sub like a normal speaker?

you don't need an amp but your subs will hit very soft with a stock of aftermarket head unit. it will sound like crap

You're not likely to get very good sound from the subwoofer without an amplifier. Some Pioneer decks are designed to connect a subwoofer directly to the rear speaker outputs, but power is very limited and if you're using them for a sub you can't use them for rear speakers as well. Most other brands lack an internal crossover for the rear speaker output, so they shouldn't be used with a subwoofer at all.

You can find many subwoofer packages that have built-in amplifiers and are very easy to install; the best I've seen is the Infinity Basslink. Otherwise, even a budget 2-channel amp and 4-ohm subwoofer can give you a real improvement in sound without costing too much.

yes u need an amp for a subwoofer ... there is no other way . There are some head units that have like a 70 watt output for a subwoofer put that is not to be taken into consideration it will still sound bad . You need to buy an amp !!!

No you cannot hook a sub straight up to the headunit you have to have an amp to power the sub the right amount of power it needs if you hook it up striaght to the headunit it wont have enough power to power the sub so you need an amp if you dont want to fry out the headunit.

no, you don't NEED an amp, but whatever cd player or radio you have will only be able to push it so far. to make it stand out, an amp would help.
