A typical bottle of alcohol is sold in "proof" units.
Dividing the "proof" by 2 give the alcohol percentage by volume in a bottle.

So an 80 proof bottle of alchohol is 40% alcohol by volume (the other 60% is water).

According to wikipedia, a unit of alcohol varies depending upon the strength.

As a rough guide:
- A very small glass of wine, a small glass of sherry, a single measure of spirits and a half pint of beer each contain about one unit, or 8 g (0.25 oz) of alcohol.
- A smallish 125ml glass of red or white wine or half a pint of cider contains about one and a half units.
Strong pale lager may contain as much as two units per half pint.
- A larger 175ml glass of wine contains two to two and a half units.
- A 750ml standard bottle of 12% wine contains around 9 units. Many wines are actually around 14.5%, which is nearly 11 units per bottle.
- A 500ml can/bottle of standard lager generally contains around 2.5 units.

Are you from India? How much do you know about demographics? If your allegations were anywhere true, why is the Christian population only 2.3% since 1950s, when 40% of Indians fall below poverty line? Did you know that there are more than 36000 sects of Christianity? Your are generalising Christians too much. Some Protestant groups like New Life, New Grace are active in conversions, doesn't mean all Christians are converting poor Hindus. It is sad that so called intellectuals have fallen prey to RSS propaganda. Did you know every other day these goons ransack church properties, vandalise graveyards, beat pastors which go unreported in media. Even police and the local politicians are biased, because Christians are not their votebanks. My suggestion for you is to open your mind and please think. In India, Christians are a soft target for communal forces. Not all Christians want someone to convert into their religion, some very few do it. Stop generalising. @Harshit : you think you know alot about them? It is because of people like you, India will alqays remain a third world country.. Politicians want to keep the main issues aside and fuel the communal passions of common Indians. You my friend have fallen prey. Good luck. INDIA SHINING.

dont bother the units are new labour control freak crap. it's actually 21 for a woman, that would be 75% of a standard bottle of vodka, i know many women who drink half a bottle on a friday and saturday plus a few shots every night, you can easily drink 42 units a week,if you want to be brainwashed then drink 2 half's of fosters each night that would be 14 units in a week.

To find out how many units of alcohol are in a drink:

Multiply the volume (in millilitres) by %ABV then divide the result by 1000.

Units = (volume (ml) x %ABV)
1000

If that doesn't make sense then visit the link below to see more info

Ummm...what do you mean

I know that when a bottle says its 40 proof its 20% alcohol. Take the proof and divide it by two to get actual percentage. Other than that I have no idea what u mean....sorry
