I know how you feel because a loved one of mine has the same problem and the surgeon has been very accommodating and nice towards us. I did not write anything but I did send him a message each time we consulted him to thank him and also now since she is undergoing chemotherapy with a different doctor I sent him a box of Patchi Chocolates with a Thank you card. I do keep in touch with him because I believe good people should not be forgotton.

A latest Book on the subject he likes ....The Book should be

A Great One to Possess...written by a very great master in the field......It should be useful to him in his further service.
You can write ''With respects and a Promise that I will follow What you taught directly and indirectly through your way of living''

A simple thank-you is all they will need. I have neurologist that saved my life. I don't need him as a doctor anymore but when I had the chance "thank-you" was all I could give him.
I also said Thank-you to my radiologist when I treatments for six weeks; they really do appreciate them. But my inspirational words to my neuro was "Don't sneeze"

What you wrote as an explanation to your question sounds pretty good to me! Why don't you just tell him what you told us? Good people need to know when they're doing a good job-in our society, I don't think we praise the positive enough. Let him know he really made a difference in your life. I'm sure he knows it, since he saved you from cancer, but it's always good to hear it from the person who was helped-he'll know his effort is appreciated and it will motivate him to continue being a wonderful human being and making a difference in other people's lives. :)
May you remain cancer-free always!

Write "your kind words and healing skills have blessed my family and myself, we are eternally grateful to you for your presence in our lives. Sincerely yours...(what ever your name is)"

That is heartfelt and still professional. Congratulations to you on your win with that horrible disease. Be strong always!

"You're a cut above the rest,"
Followed by the excellent warm words that other people here have said much better than I could.

I would write what you just told us. It points out all the things you appreciate and it's not cheesy or made up. I personally would appreciate being told what you just wrote.
