I'm looking for a good snack to send to school for my daugter's preschool class. She has the last day of school and I'd like something special for them.

Kids love fruits and trail mixes, you know the easy to eat stuff. If you give them something small and easy to chew/swallow, I am sure they will love it. One thing to make is a fruit salad, but don't make it too early or it'll get bad! Or trail mix is good, goldfish crackers too. Have fun!

Tons of great ideas here ... but make sure you contact the teacher first and get her okay! Many preschools and/or teachers have policies about snacks, especially considering allergies and nutritional issues. I'd hate for you to go through all that work to walk in with your snack in the morning and be told "sorry, but no". Make sure you check first!

The other day we had little Kabobs with the class and they loved them. We took small cubes of cheese and small cubes of beef sticks (like slim Jim type things but not the spicy ones) and layered them on a toothpick. All but three kids asked for seconds. Serve them with some crackers and you are good to go. It is healthy too!!

I know at my daughter's school, they do not allow certain foods as snacks like candy, cookies, etc. I know popcorn goes over well, and does vanilla waffers. Maybe a banana for each child, or strawberries? Fresh fruit is always a hit.

We can bring homemade treat like cookies, cake or cupcakes on their birthday.

Trying to think of things w/o peanut butter: Oatmeal raisin cookies, banana or zucchini bread, jello jigglers, crackers and cheese, fruit tray, veggie tray with dip, mini bagels and cream cheese, granny smith apples & caramal dip.

Here are some allergen free snacks: Veggie booty, popcorn (good for teeth), fresh fruit, cashew rice crispy bars (recipe at www.wholefoods.com), hummus and corn chips, baby carrots and hummus, apples and peanut butter or cashew butter if there's someone in her class with peanut allergies).

mini pizza - buy a couple of pizza bases and get a round biscuit cutter and cut out little rounds and top them with what ever you like eg ham & pinapple, ham & mushroom etc. if you have time to spare you can make faces on them with the vegies
