No, it just means you need a bit of help.
If you broke your leg, would you refuse a crutch? No, you use it until it is no longer needed

You are not weak for taking anti-depressants you are strong for realizing you need them in the first place. If you knew people that were weird it has nothing to do with the medication if taken properly. Most likely they were that way before but were able to show who they were by taking medication to get them out of their shells. The proper medication for depression will make you feel like your world is not as dark as you thought and will make you want to get out and experience what life has to offer. Depression is something that so many of us have to deal with but you would never know because most of us get on the correct medication and live life as joyful as someone that isn't depressed. Be proud that you are taking the first step to be happy and never think of depression again as a negative thing in your life but just a little bump you have to get over each and every day with your medication.

Taking anti-depressants doesn't mean you're weak, it means you're suffering from either a mild or severe form of depression. Now these "weird people" you're referring to, are they weird from taking the medicine or were they weird anyway? If they're weird to begin with, why would you think you'd be like them? If they're acting strange because of the pills, it's probably due to side-effects. There are many different kinds of anti-depressants, and all of them work differently. Your doctor will prescribe them, based on your condition and medical history. If you experience bad effects, let your doctor know and he can switch you to another brand. Good luck!

Depression is a disease where the chemicals in the brain sometimes don't quite transport the way they should and both as a med student and a person who taken them it can actually be a strength to take them. Some people are just plain weird to begin with.

Does it mean you are weak if you are diabetic and you take insulin????? Duh. Of course not. Depression is an illness, and it is treated with medication. Would you tell a heart patient that he was a weenie for taking his heart pills? Of course not, get a grip!
You will be a lot "weirder" if you let your mental illness go untreated. Just look at all the homeless people under the overpass, and you will know what I mean. Good luck, I hope you get better soon.

By gosh no! Is your car an old jalopy if you have to pay it some attention, and take it for a service now and again, to keep it on the road and in good condition? Same goes! Keep well, you'll be well on the road to full recovery soon. Life has it's ups and downs! There's no one in the world who has plain sailing!
