I use to always say, "wouldn't it be great if there was something you could eat to actually lose fat instead of gain it". Then someone told my the other day that after I eat something to eat a grapefruit or have cook cabbage in my soups and t will actually help me burn the fat. Is this true? Does anyone know about this? Also if it is true are there other foods like these?

There is only one way to lose weight: burn more calories than you take in.

There may be some foods that help you burn calories at a slightly faster rate than you otherwise would, but there is nothing that will let you take in more calories than you burn and still lose weight. NOTHING.

Eating grapefruit is great. But the main reason people lose weight on grapefruit diets is because they are reducing the calories they take in. They're not just adding grapefruit, they are eating grapefruit instead of something else that has more calories. I.e. if you go from pancakes, syrup and toast to grapefruit and oatmeal - you're likely not going to be eating as many calories.

Eat less.

Exercise more.

Yes it's true, but how much cabbage and grapefruit can one person eat before gnawing on the cat's leg.

Still dieting and hating it.

Grapefruit helps you lose water weight because it is a diuretic. I don't know about cabbage. Maybe the same?
