OK so check this out. If you are Atheist and in the service possibly sacraficing life or limb you are required to attend religious services. How wrong is this? I'm Christian and though the lady from Atheist organazation explaining on some news show said what if they made Christians attend Jewish or Muslim worship we would be upset. I wouldn't but I know some of my brothers and sisters would. I would be upset about being forced to attend any religious service though. I believe this should change and soon. Who thought this mess up?

People aren't supposed to be forced to here the word of God radio guy. Tell me how that shows any fruit. We should show this fruit in all things. Remember who said the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Force=wrong and further may hinder someone coming to the Lord.

For clarification I saw this on CNN or something last night. I don't know when it started or if it is widespread but that is what they said.

To be a Christian is to receive the Holy Spirit into our human spirit. Man can be likened to a radio, and the Spirit of God can be likened to radio waves. Within a radio there is a receiver. Likewise, within every man there is a human spirit as the recipient for man to receive the Spirit of God. If a radio is turned off or the receiver is not functioning properly, the radio waves will not be received by the radio. Today many human “radios” do not function because their owners do not “switch on” by exercising their spirit. People today are unable to contact God because the receiver within them, the human spirit, is out of order.

I spent over 5 years in the military, and I was never once forced to attend any religious service. I think what you are taliking about is a different situation. Because there is a shortage of clergy in the armed forces, only certain types of religious services are offered. You don't have to attend, but if you do attend, it has to be a specific kind of service. I went to one religious service when I was in the Navy, and it happened to be Presbyterian. I wasn't a Presbyterian, but that was the only service that was offered on the day that I decided to attend.
Now, I could be wrong, of course. You never know what the armed forces are going to pull out of the hat.

I was in the Navy for six years and don't remember ever once being required to attend religious services. Although I did attend mass a couple of times during boot camp just for the peace and quiet and to get out of the barracks for 45 minutes.

UH, when did this start? Most of the men in my family from my Grandfather down to my son have been in the one branch of the military or the other, and none of them were ever forced to attend any religious service.
Someone may have given you some false information.

I don't know the army rules now, but I have over seven years of service from 1940 to 1947. I was never even asked, let alone required, to attend any kind of church service. In all that time, I never went to any kind of church service, although some of my friends were army chaplains.

who ever thought that "Christians" kill each other in wars. i know a true christian would not. they would follow Jesus example. fighting in wars is strictly against bible principles. how do u know your not killing someone of the same faith as you? you don't! that's blood on your hands.
wars today are different than those that ancient Israel fought in. those wars were for Gods nation. Since God has since chosen a new nation of people of "all nations and tribes and tongues", does it make sense to go to war these days when God does not back any government today? i think not!
also if force=wrong than why would you force someone to die. also if thier not of your faith than how can they come to the lord if you just killed them?

Miss Bess, I don't know where you got your information from, but it was not from the land of facts. Nobody is required to attend religious services in the US military!! That's absolute garbage.

Christians did. I proudly served during Desert Storm and we were told in basic training that we could either go to church or spend our Sunday's cleaning toilets with a toothbrush. I had a fundie CPO.
