Our vet that has been taking care of our beagle and her three week old puppies has told me to use Frontline Plus. The Advantix is dangerous to cats because they lick themselves and it would poison them. This same thing would happen to the puppies. They generally crawl around and trying to nurse they might ingest some of the Advantix or while the mom is cleaning the pups, she could also be poisoned the same way.If you have other dogs, donot allow the mom or the pups to come into contact with the other dogs.

You could bathe the mother with dawn dishwashing soap, rinsing well and use a flea comb to remove any weakened fleas. Then you will need to get the fleas off the babies. I just got an eight day old abandoned kitty that was weak and full of fleas and used dawn, very carefully, getting the fleas ALL off while weakened. It's very impt. to not get this in the eyes or nose.
Then we dried the baby carefully on very low heat
You need to get the fleas off of all of them. Fleas on the babies can cause anemia, for one problem.
Have fresh bedding, nursing area set up for after bath, and take the old bedding and wash it all. You will have a problem with fleas if your dog was infested because they will be in your carpeting.
This means you will need to flea comb them daily to make sure you are keeping fleas off of them. A Vet may recommend something else that may be more effective.

Best not to use any flea poisions around pups or nursing moms...without VET advice & recommendations...or you can kill the pups & the mom..chihuahua's can be very sensitive to flea products, as can any dog but especially small dogs..Take Care

I breed Shar Pei & I used Frontline spot on treatment throughout pregnancy & nursing. It said on the box that it was ok. Read the advantage box. If you don't want to use spot on treatment you may be able to use CapStar, but you'll need to ask the vet. I hope that helps.

Not spot-on, no. At least, it is not recommended.
The only flea treatment recommended for nursing b itches/queens and kittens/pups is Frontline SPRAY (not drops). Don't spray around the mother's nipple area, and ideally wait until both mother and pups are dry before reuniting them.

Fleas are a major pest. There are various species of fleas - cat fleas, dog fleas, rat fleas and rabbit fleas.
You can get rid of them by the safest and cheapest methods like boric acid.
