It is stated that small reductions in white cell count and serum sodium are common. That means you may suffer from leukopenia and not leukemia.
Leukemia or leukaemia (see spelling differences) is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow and is characterized by an abnormal proliferation (production by multiplication) of blood cells, usually white blood cells (leukocytes). It is part of the broad group of diseases called hematological neoplasms.
Please see the web pages for more details on Carbamazepine (generic name) Tegretol (brand name)

It might be a fear your mom has for some reason unknown. But it absolutely "does not" cause that at all!!! The answer to that is NO. Or she might be saying that to you so you will get to sleep faster since sleep is very very important to your health. It can bring on colds and the flu without enough sleep. So be sure to do what she asks, sound like your mom cares about you alot anyways :-)

obviously Tegretol should not be taken by someone with Leukemia, because in large doses it can cause aplastic anemia.....but, it has not been found to cause Leukemia or any other cancer in those who take it properly and who are otherwise healthy.
