I have 4 cats in MY house just because my little brother and sisters wanted them so much. I find them highly annoying. I think I'm about to open the door and let them go. Of course, I get in trouble for this but is it worth it?

Hi there. Please do NOT open the door and let them out. You may think this is a good solution but it is more inhumane than you may imagine. You would be in effect killing these cats. Is that really what you want to do? I work for a shelter and everyday we get cats with broken limbs, serious diseases, malnutrition and numerous other problems caused by living on the street. Furthermore, more cats are killed by cars annually than are euthanized in U.S. animal shelters. Then you factor in dog attacks and other factors. Talk to your little brother and sisters, find the cats a new home if necessary, but do NOT just put them on the street.

"Cars kill about 5.4 million cats per year--more, by a million-plus, than are killed in U.S. animal shelters! Most of them are hit at night. Typically cats know cars are dangerous, but confuse the beams from your headlights with your car itself. When the lights go by them, they think it's safe to dash out. Expect them to make this mistake and you'll be prepared to react if they do. "

Why to kites fly -- why do birds sing? People adore cats for a lot of reasons: they're intelligent, independent little creatures that give love and affection for very little in return. I think in some ways we're attracted to cats because they purr, which seems to be the ultimate expression of happiness. Oh, and also cats don't drool (most of the time). So who appointed you the pet police? Opening the door to "let them go" tells me that you're an irresponsible, self-centered and selfish person, probably a teenager or younger. Just "letting them go" is also cruel. Now, if you're determined to alienate your family, not to mention causing a lot of unhappiness for your siblings, you need to think about this and ponder why this is not the thing to do. Actions have consequences, in case you didn't know that. When you live in a family, the house is not YOURS alone. Kid, you need to get a clue and a bit more maturity.

I can understand the annoyance if the cats arent spayed or neutered - with the females dancing & yowling, and fights between males, not to mention the spraying. But if they are all fixed they shouldnt bother you at all. Most of them would prefer if you didnt bother them either.

I have 3 cats and adore all of them... why? cuz they're funny, laid-back, low maintenance and easy to entertain. For some people, indoor cats win over other pets, like dogs, because....

Cats aren't always all up in your face wanting to play or get petted. They don't bark or whine at people walking down the street or cars passing. They don't slobber all over your hand and/or belongings.

You don't have to drop everything you're doing just so you're cat can go outside to go poo. If they gotta go, they go. No having to hold it when "mom" is at work, so no accidents either. Plus, from my own experience, you dont even have to train them to use the litter box. A few weeks after our third cat was born, he peed on the floor, I set him in the litter box, he sniffed around, dug a little, left, then went back later to do more business. I never had to correct him again.

You wont see a cat chewing on your favorite stuff... The most a cat will do is bat something a couple times, maybe bite it once, get bored, and walk away.
And you'll never see a cat chewing on one of those disgusting raw hides, with the goo, and the slimey and the .....yuck. 'nuff said.

They are self cleaning, and never stink, unless its a male who hasnt been nuetered - but even then, the cat doesnt stink, your house does. lol

With a cat, you dont have to worry too much about mice, or bugs for that matter - one of my cats thinks the common housefly is her mortal enemy... which she also thinks of as her mid-afternoon snack.

A cat doesnt need too much to be entertained. Dangle a string with a toy on the end. Thats it. Excersize, entertainment, and mental stimulation all from the comfort of your couch. If you have more than one cat, you dont even need to do that. They basically entertain themselves.

They may be aloof, but they will snuggle with you - someone is always sleepin on me when Im sleepin. It's comforting when they curl up in a ball, contentedly purring away on your lap during the evening news too.

Don't let the cats out. That is just cruel & selfish. They may become injured or lost. And your brothers & sisters will cry & may hate you forever.

People adore cats because they are soft, cuddly, affectionate & playful. Also because they accept you & don't judge you & because you can confide in them & they keep your secrets. Try playing with them - you might find you fall in love. Cats are a hoot - they are such clowns that they are constantly entertaining. Even when they bother you, its because they love you, like when you want to read & they sit on your book. They will teach you things. Open your mind to their wisdom.

If you have a good cat they are extremely affectionate! They are also easy to care for. My cats have been there for me when others have not. When I am sad they seem to know and are at my side. I have always felt that people that do not like cats just have never had a GOOD cat! But you have to raise them with lots of love and affection for them to grow up sweet and loving. If you ignore them and don't like them why should they like you?

No it's not worth it. It takes all sorts of people to make the world go round, buster - learn to deal with it.

I'm afraid it's your problem if you don't like cats, pushing them outside is not the answer.

i have a cat and she is the worst cat i've ever been around..destructive and high maintains..she has destroyed my apartment and everything in it..she has plenty of toys, and we play often but still it isn't enough..we're trying the training thing and that isn't going well either..she is refusing to obey. i don't know how people have multiple numbers of cats in the house and still remain normal..
