my son never ever slept in his crib!... i baught the thing for nothing LOL... and took up space for nothing... my son was your sons age when i baught him his own bed and amazingly he slept in the bed... i just made sure to buy him a blanket of his favourite character and he loved it!...
I always thought that maybe my son feels like hes trapped while in the crib because of how amazingly he slept on his own in his own bed... so just try buying a bed.. i meen it aint like as if its going to hurt your going to buy one in the end anyways... and if it dont work then just pack it up and store it for when he gets a bit older...
well good luck ...

Oh, definitely get a toddler bed!! They even have character ones -- cars, etc. Then get him sheets/blankets that HE likes (favorite character for example). Have HIM help take down the crib (put the screws in a baggie) - then he can 'help' take it out to the garage. Then have him 'help' put his new bed together (hold sheet or whatever) -- make the transition a BIG DEAL the whole time. Even call Grandma (if applicable) and have her make a big deal. Then let him get used to his new room -- maybe let him put a favorite stuffed animal or two on it. I will bet you that you will have verrrry little trouble - he will probably only get out if there is a problem (like not feeling well) and he should at that point to go get you. Don't worry about him falling out - if you have carpet, great! If not, buy a nice size/thick throw rug - that way he won't fall onto the hard floor. Good luck and just have fun with the transition!!

But him in a toddler bed with a side rail and I still but sometimes ( really on the days my son does not want to sleep) blankets to soften the fall if he do he might be getting scared of in closed space he wants a bit of freedom my son was 10 months and I needed to but him in a toddler bed cause he was not sleeping and now I have no problems at all butting him to bed. or if the is not you cup or tea let him cry he will learn soon the he needs to sleep here and not with you.

It sounds like one way or another, hes gonna get out of his bed.. I would get him a toddler bed and just get those safety rails and put them on it... He might get more hurt if he climbs out of his crib then if he fell out of a toddler bed.. Tell him it's a big boy bed and see if that helps.. Good luck

you have to train him to scream it out more. Try lowering his crib to the max so he cant get out of it, if that doesnt work try locking his door from the outside. I had the same problem, and this worked great, now he sleeps in his own bed all night long.

I had the same problem with my 1st daughter..As a result we spoiled her and got what we deserved till it became too much..If the crying method doesn't work then...Every time he gets out of bed into your room bring him back tell him firmly "NO IT'S BEDTIME ________." Over and over Yes it becomes a stressful method for us parents but he has to learn and try an hour earlier then his normal bedtime would be so that by lets say 9pm hes asleep.... Good Luck...

You have to be consistent, whatever you do. I think they have a net thing you can put over the crib to keep your kid from climbing out. I can't imagine having to do that, but that may be an option for you.
