Starting Saturday I've had a dull ache in my lower right abdomen. I've also had nausea with it. It has continually gotten worse, now it hurts whenever I move. I went to Urgent Care on Monday because it's just out of the ordinary enough for me to worry. They gave me antibiotics for a kidney infection and told me to go back in if it got worse. Tuesday night I was at the ER because it had gotten worse. The ER doc was convinced it was appendicitis until he got my test results back. My WBCs and urinalysis were normal, however the CT of my appendix showed fecaliths and calcifications. He refered me to a surgeon because he said that these things were a precursor to appendicitis. The surgeon, pretty much told me that they were normal. Great! I don't have appendicitis, but could someone tell me what I do have? Everyone just keeps telling me to go home, wait it out, and go back to the ER if it gets worse. Well, it is, but why go if they'll send you right back home?

I've been running 97.6-99.9 temp just kind of randomly. When I had the CT they did check my ovaries and kidneys and said they were fine. Thank you everyone for your input!

Does it hurt when they push on it? ABSOLUTELY! One of the few times I really wanted to clock an ER doc.

Something has to be wrong in there. Demand an ultrasound of your abdomen. They can see things better like that. I hope you find out what is wrong soon.

Join the club, had this two years ago and went through everything, except CT Scan. First they thought appendix, then kidney stone, then GYN, so after all the tests, x-ray, ultrasound, bloods, swabs, smear even STD they gave up? They wanted to do 'exploratory surgery?' I refused, come on the tests were normal!
Did not help me? I then went back to my GP and posed a simple question 'Could this be what they term referred pain from my spine?' Answer 'I do not know, only way to find out have a Lumbar MRI'. Within two weeks they located the two year cause of pain, a Disc Bulge that was/is aggravating the nerve root. Good Luck.

The CT is right. Dont mess with the appendix. Take another opinion. Looks like you do have appendicitis after all. Maybe it is not so severe, but dont neglect it. What will you do if it gets bad or worse in the middle of the night?

Has anyone bothered to do an ultrasound? Blood tests will only reveal so much, and what they do reveal has to be interpretted correctly.
I would definitely go to a different clinic, schedule an appointment with your regular doctor too. ER doctors and Urgent Care providers sometimes give us the shortend of their attention because they see so many people who exaggerate their conditions.

As for the ovarian cyst, I have them myself and the only surefire way to diagnose those is with the aforementioned ultrasound.

does it hurt when you touch it if not

If you start running a fever or if you start vomiting. Go to the ER. there will be a 25% chance it will be your appendix bursting

If it does hurt on the outside you most likely pinched a nerve

Call your PCP also

Have your ob/gyn test for an ovarian cyst. Sometimes this condition "mocks" other illnesses, and it gets missed in testing.
