My 7 month old beagle puppy has hook worms. My question is does that mean I could contract them too? My friends told me that its possible that Miss Bridget (The pup) could have passed them on to me.

I don't know were you live but don't they have vets there? You should take her anyway to get her going on her series of parvo/distemper shots, and in the process will check to see what worms she may or may not have. If you've already taken her to a vet and they found she has hook worms then give them a call back and find out if people can catch them. Why would you ask that in a place like this? Don't you want to know for sure from a real professional? Don't be such a yahoo! MLJ

domestic canines would desire to be wormed each and every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age, utilising a solid worming syrup, as much as around 8 weeks. i've got basically as quickly as considered worms in a toddler domestic dog because of the fact the effect of being wormed even nevertheless, so which you do no longer unavoidably would desire to confirm worms. the reality your domestic dog has now voided a load potential she needs dosing lower back, utilising a solid wormer - otc wormers do no longer continually artwork. See your vet for her to be weighed, and given the appropriate dose. A stool pattern may be nicely worth taking in for a fecal you will desire to be completed, so which you be attentive to precisely what she has occurring in there.

Yes, it's possible. A greater risk is with young children contracting parasites such as hookworms from dogs. Hookworms are passed easily from dogs to children since children tend to play in the dirt and touch their mouths with dirty hands before washing. If left untreated, blindness could result.

Is your dog being treated? If not, he needs to be. If you feel you are at risk for having the worms, visit your doctor or pharmacist.

Hookworms CAN be passed on to people, especially children, elderly people and those with a weakened immune system. The eggs are passed on in the feces of your dog so anywhere that your dog has used the bathroom may be infested with the parasite.

Here is some more information on Hookworms.

Yes they are transmissable to humans, but only really if you don't wash your hands after touching pupp/cleaning up his poo, or if he licks your face, that sort of thing.

Please get some proper deworming tablets from the vet for your puppy if you haven't already. If you're worried about yourself, pharmacists sell human dewormers. Definitely get some for yourself if you start having diarrhoea or stomach pains!!

Yes, worms are one of the diseases that can be passed from animals to humans. You should get your dog dewormed, and get some medication for yourself also. Good luck
