You're correct. God at one time did mighty things such as appear in a burning bush; preserve 3 men in a furnace; turn water to wine; was crucified, died, was buried and rose from the dead. And what effect have all of these things had on you? You still deny, demand and refuse to believe.
Faith isn't a matter of what you see with your eyes; it's a matter of what you see with your heart. Besides, do you really think that you could serve a god that is your own personal puppet... one that has to perform for you? Is this the type of god that you could envision as your maker and master? How pathetic such a god would be.

Why does it have to be something as huge as parting a sea? Why can't it be removing the stage 4 cancer from my grandma's pancreas last December? Or squelching a tsunami that was beginning to form off the coast of the Solomon Islands on April 2 that could have killed thousands but only killed 20?
God's miracles are just a strong as ever. Many choose to call it "science" or "coincidence" or "still not good enough."
All I can say is, you don't know what *hasn't* gotten to you, man.

I guess he was a lot more demonstrative back before the jewish tribe was recording history - when he flamboyantly parted the oceans or turned women into pillars of salt. These were simple folklore legends that were carried by oral tradition before eventually being written down. They were subsequently changed and modified more over time.
Of course none of it matches history... for example there were never any Jews in Egypt. The Egyptians were rather advanced and they kept detailed accounts of history, they never mention jewish slaves or anything remotely like them - nor is there any archeological evidence of these people living there, escaping, or wandering the desert for 40 years. In 1200 BC their historians mention the state of Israel appearing with some comments on their society and their monotheistic god, but they never mention jews before that, or the mass exodus of what would have been 1/5 of the entire Egyptian population at the time.

Look around man. There is proof of His existence everywhere. We don't need parting water to see God in our everyday life. The sky, air, birds, trees are all His work. God bless you.

There are people that are going to tell you that he does do miracles, but only for those who "have faith". But back in Biblical times, faith was not at all a requirement to witness one of the alleged "miracles". God supposedly showed Himself all the time to non-believers, for the sake of making them see and believe. He was all over the place. People almost couldn't get away from Him. Of course, we know that it's all fiction, and because nobody has seen hide nor hair of God since the Biblical times, believers will tell you that you can only see if you "have faith." And there's nothing they "see" that can't be attributed to anything rational and of this world. Science can explain anything that used to be attributed to God. Miracles have been demoted from destroying entire cities with fire and brimstone to "feeling God's presence" and imprints of Jesus's face on pieces of toast.

after the bible was written nobody that was alive to see all those things were still alive. so there is no proof it actually happened, except that the bible says so,
so what im saying is the reason we dont see it today is that nothing like that was ever done. it was just written in a book to tell ppl it was.
i can tell you that i can swim to the bottom of the ocean with no oxegyn tank, that doesnt make it true, even if i write it in a book

god does many many miracles today. but, people are just too worried about proving that he is not real instead of realizing. you can lookup recent miracles, especially eucharistic miracles and recent stigmatas (Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, who died in 1968), on yahoo im sure. however, i know that they have been many small miracles in my life. but remember, religion is based on faith. "faith is taking the first step even when you dont see the whole staircase" -mlk

Because if we always had hard core proof, where would faith come in? Our life here is a test of faith. Miracles still happen ALL around you, your heart and mind just have to be open to receive them.
