Just another Bible prophesy coming true. This as much as Israel becoming a nation in 1948 proves God's Word is Truth.
Satan is trying hard to rule American government.

You know, if WE had not been so un-Biblical in our attacks on the homosexuals, this would not have happened.
Too many Christians and too many churches turned homosexuality into their personal crusade. They took the comments about 'abomination' and ran with it.
Do these same churches or Christians follow the teachignthat a lie is ALSO an abomination? Do they pursue liars within the church with the same fervent, angry zeal? No.
Eating shellfish is also an abomination (Lev. 10:11). Do we protest and boycott Red Lobster?
Deut 22:5 claims that a woman wearing a man's clothes is an abomination- do we protest Doc Marten men-like shoes, women wearing boxers or borrowing our shirts?
WE made this a crusade, and forgot about love, obedience, or even righteousness in our fervor, and now WE are reaping what we sowed. We judged them, now we are being judged.
If we truely followed the teachings of the Bible, this would not have happened.
It really saddens me that today, the church is its own worse enemy.

What a load!!! What? Will all of the Police suddenly have ESP to be able to make "Thoughts, Feelings and beliefs" criminal offenses?
According to whom is this happening? Rev Sheldon? Come on, at least list Gov't offices that are putting this forward. Jesus didn't treat people the way I see some "Christians" treating others... so in essense... these people are using their religion to justify attacking homosexuals... which they won't call an attack. But if you stand against them doing it to homosexuals it's an attack??? Please tell these people they can keep their double standards. I doubt their God is that petty.

I think that the Reverend might be doing an evil thing. And that congress might be doing an evil thing. Jesus didn't walk around condemning those that know they are sinners. It was the ones who thought that they weren't sinners, or like the rest of sinning man that he had problems with.
Christians have been asking for a backlash. They left the Gospel message in favor of one that pointed at people in an attempt to convict them. As I understand it, conviction is what God does, if He's interested in that person.
When will Christianity wake up and return to the Gospel message instead of the hypocritical demonic message that clearly puts us in the wrong? Why must we Christians bring evil upon ourselves? It's just as the various Kings of Israel, sin takes over because we are not paying attention to what God told us. It's the same thing all over again.

It is difficult know how to respond to this question. So I guess I will begin by responding to the "question" itself. The plan you are referring to really has nothing to do with Christianity. It has everything to do with violence directed against people based on their sexual orientation. To imply that this is somehow part of a broader attack on Christianity is unfounded. How could deterring people from committing violent crimes against a class of people be considered an attack on a religion unless that religion itself requires the support of such attacks. Certainly, I am unaware of any such requirements of Christianity. But I would prefer to focus on the substance of your question. I find it interesting how many conservatives so often focus on "thoughts, feelings, and beliefs" when the issue of hate crimes legislation is brought up. To understand the issue, one needs to keep in mind that our entire criminal justice system is based on a perpetrator's mindset when a crime is committed. For example, a person receives a lighter sentence for killing someone in the course of a fight than if the same person commits premeditated murder. In other words, the justice system is always mindful of one's "thoughts, feelings, and beliefs" when a crime is committed. Allowing for additional penalties for violence which is directed at people because of their orientation is merely a reasonable extension of a practice that has existed throughout our legal history.

As far as I understand it (it's not like you've listed any source), it seems they are trying to pass law that makes hating homosexuals a hate crime.
Just because you won't be able to hate a certain group of human beings your religion is under attack? This reveals a tremendous deal about your character and those of Rev Sheldon's organization... and that is that you're very, incredibly immoral and intolerant.
Homosexuals should be protected under hate crime laws, there is no reason to disdain them as much as you do. Even your own prophet said to love thy neighbor and to judge not...

The worst kind of person in Jesus' day was a tax collector. Yet he dined with a tax collector in the mans own home. If Jesus didn't judge people, who or what gives you the right to? What has everyone come to when opposing beliefs have to be protected from Christians? You have become war mongers in the name of God, wouldn't you say?

I can't believe that you actually consider not being allowed to savagely beat people an attack on YOU...
sicko!
A boy was just stabbed here in Florida... 20 times!
And you want us to say... oh, that's ok... it was a Christian sacrifice... that happens every now and again...
The thoughts, feelings and beliefs you are referring to in hate crime legislation are only mentioned as motives to a crime that has been committed... so if you don't kill anyone... then fine - be as hateful as you want... see where it gets you.
But if you DO kill someone - then this very post on this chat would be used as evidence against you in court.
But in all honesty - Christians should support Anti-Hate Crime Legislation because it would protect most of them from the few crazies like you... you wouldn't be allowed to beat your kids for being nice to a Jewish person... and Black Christians would also be protected from having crosses burnt on their yards...
Basicly, HCL is good stuff - it outlaws "acts" of hatred which are spurred by church's like the one that you obviously belong to... The Thought-Police are not out to get you...
but with our current policies and legal systems, I sometimes wonder if the rest of us are safe.

I see that you set this time aside to humiliate yourself.
You have been bulling gays for months with your fake 'innocent' posts in the LGBT board. You lie, you are amongst the most narrow minded people I have ever read here, now you come to complain about attack to Christians? What is the example you are giving?
The reverse victimization of the majority American religious group is patheitc and dishonest. Rev. Sheldon is a neo-Nazi, and you have a lot of nerve to mention this quack here.

Ridiculous bills come and go all the time. Just because a bill is introduced doesn't mean it will be passed or signed into law. Very few bills ever make it. This one, though I've never heard of it, was only introduced to make a point. It will never be ratified. If by some bizarre turning of Congress it were to be ratified, the Supreme Court would strike it down as unconstitutional. I'm not the least bit worried about it.

Marie, calm down. Such a law would never stand up constitutionally (the infamous ACLU would love to get their hands on that). The thing is, rights are for everyone...and that means homosexuals too. Just follow what Jesus told you...LOVE GOD, LOVE all people (that means ALL people hun), and stop judging others because in the end, how you judged them is how you will be judged.
