I'm not from the south but I'm taking it as my own. It's simply the best way to express the 2nd person plural.

I totally agree! I took a satellite class for Latin once that was based out of San Antonio. The teacher always used y'all for second person plural. And even though I'm not southern, it slipped into my vocabulary! I still use it 20 years later!
It didn't help that I married a southern guy, he makes fun of me jokingly that y'all is not used in the upper midwest! :)

Ya know.. .I have never used Ya'll.. But I betcha I have said Y'all quite often in the past. I aint from the south.. but I have a little hillbilly in me.

Y'all (you all) is a great word. I am from the south, and would not use any other term. My children however, are south Florida natives, and often say, you guys.

I am a "ya'll kind of girl. That is just what I say. I don't care if I get made fun of. My husbands family says "yews". What's up with that?

Nah, it's more fun using "you" as its original meaning (second person plural) and using "thou" as the 2nd pers. singular! Feast thine ears on that!

IM born and raised in south mississippi... that is all we use here... Its not that i LOVE using it... its just what else would you use besides that? You all? Thats just way to complicated... and sounds funny to me... lol..
