Yup...it's generic. But it's supposed to be just as good.

Bacitracin is not a generic drug, but can be purchased off the shelf at any drugstore or many grocery stores as well, including the "big box" stores. It is an ointment that comes in a tube and is used to prevent infections in MINOR cuts, scrapes and burns. It is fairly inexpensive and should be a part of everyone's First Aid Kit.
Don't know where you live, but if you live near a Walgreen's Drug Store, they have their own brand of ointment called
"Triple Antibiotic" which is a first aid ointment which also contains Bacitracin. It is just as effective and even cheaper.
Remember, this is a wonder ointment for MINOR cuts and burns. But if you are self-prescribing and have a deep, oozing wound, you should be seen by a doctor.

I am not a professional, but I am on insurance due to strokes and seizures. I am also a mom of a 4 year old. I can only get the generic types of medication. From what I have seen and been prescribed Bacitracin is a generic form of neosporin.

Bacitracin is a generic drug. It has been around so long there are no brand name manufacturers making the ointment. However other brand names exist for other forms such as powders for intramuscular injection called Baci-IM.
