The Bible makes it clear.
You either live under the principle of Grace,
Or, you live under the principle of Law.
If you live under the principle of Law, sin will have dominion over you.
This is perhaps the most emphatic teaching in the writings of Paul in the New Testament.

I've never heard the term legalism before but yes, those of us in whom Jesus lives are compelled to live holy and therefore moral lives.
Yes, a person in whom the holy spirit exists is indeed a new creature, an immortal one.

well Christians do have laws...but they are the laws of God...and to be "new" as you put it, you must accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. that is when you become a new person... you can actually feel the change, and it's like a light suddenly comes on. your whole demeanor changes. you're still you, and can still have some of your old habits rear their ugly heads, but the love of Jesus in your heart helps you to follow in his footsteps. it's hard to explain...but yes i agree with you..but it's so simple if you want to let Jesus in your heart. all you have to do is ask..and if you truely want that then he'll come in and make your life so much better. trust me...just ask..

But do you acknowlede Jesus sent the laws in the Old Testament ??
If you believe Jesus is the God of the Old Testament then you MUST believe he sent those laws in the past.
Maybe, according to Paulian corruption, you dont have to follow the commands but you cannot deny they were commanded by YOUR God.
Then the one you worship sent all those commands about war, slaves and killing.
Accept facts and be fair to yourself and others. It is the first step in finding the real truth.

Legalism is what Paul the apostle called a perverted Torah.
It is where your salvation is based on the Law and not on trust. He said Abraham trusted and it was counted to him as righteousness. We trust in Christ and what he did and God counts it on our account as righteousness.
Does this help?

I think that alot of Christians don't behave as new creations in Christ and this reflection tarnishes the faith.
