Do I just go back to their field and start picking and then pay later? Do I need to find an owner or farmer to let them know I'm there??

usually they have a stand with a scale and baskets for you to use. you then just grab a basket and pick to your hearts content and then pay by the pound or whatever.

You usually pick the fruit you want, and when you are done picking all the fruit, you usually go and pay for it before leaving since they usually weigh the fruit by the pound.

Depends, but, basically, you do the work and they collect the money and watch the fruit grow.

(The one's I liked as a kid vacationing in Wautoma were the strawberry fields where we could eat all we wanted and get paid for each small contained brought back - we used the money to go to the drive-in movie further up the road.)

When you arrive they will meet you and give you the containers to put the items in.Then when done they either weigh or charge per container.Depends on the stand owner.

Around here, you just walk up, get a basket, and pick pick pick. When you're ready to leave, they weigh it and charge you. Great way to get apples and strawberries!

U-pick means you pick the fruit yourself, have it weighed, pay for the fruit and then take it home with you.
