There is only one journey, although the secular people are not aware, they are on the same journey as those that are devout. They just don't consciously know it.

Your thoughts are interesting! But I believe you are leading yourself into the wrong conclusion based on some assumptions. It appears as though you are assuming that those who call themselves Christians but do evil acts and bloodshed, are truly Christian. Why would you believe ANYONE who could do such harm that is senseless and against what Christ tells us to be? They are a hypocrite by their own actions! So....no, I do not agree with you based on the argument you offer. I cannot assume that everyone that does "this" or "that" in the name of Christ, is truly a Christian. I have seen too much to the contrary.
However! I do believe that we all need Christ. I don't mean religion, but a relationship with Christ, the Father, and The Holy Spirit. God created us to love Him back. That's it. Salvation is free to everyone. Its something we can all have, if we choose to.

Sure! Humanity is very diverse, and there is no reason to believe we would all be at our best if we were all in the same mold.
I do not think we are better off by having people who are intolerant of other people's religion or non-religion, however. It is extremely unfortunate that so many people believe their preferred way is the only right way, and that everyone should believe as they do. This is such a pervasive trait that there may be a genetic basis for it. Think so?

I understand your reasoning and only disagree because we want everyone to go to heaven. We cannot force anyone to believe though, the problems start when people use Religion as a tool only to gain/keep power and hurt others that they do not like.
This is not following my faith, even though there have been those who have wrongly hurt others in the name of Christianity.
Peace!

I understand your point, so many hyprocrates. However, Jesus warned of religion and how following the law will not get you saved. He was very right. Religions all tend to focus some of their energy on people rather than all of it on God. Therefore you will find those who are downright evil belonging to a certain religion, following the rules but not having a clean heart.

I don't think it's a matter of religious vs. secular; I see it as a matter of loving God's commandments over loving the commandments of men.
Think about it: the truly religious seek peace, which they identify as coming from their God; the falsely religious seek war, which is pushed onto them through false doctrine propagated by the laws of men.

Religion doesn't lead to selflessness. Charity maybe, but not selflessness. If you follow a set of teachings that offers infinite rewards for good deeds and infinite punishments for bad, then it is not selfless to do good deeds.

I believe everything has a purpose...for some it is to challenge ideas and others to give...and so on. This, too, is a part of the great purpose of things.

Religion is worthless. It is merely made up rules to try to earn you way to God. Christianity, of course, is not a religion. It is God reaching out to us in forgiveness.
