i feel like fainting or i got to hold on something when i take xanax or if i miss a dose what can that be from

you might try taking smaller doses more frequently, or ask your doctor to switch you to a different anti-anxiety medicine, there are several available. Buspar comes to mind, it tends to have fewer side effects.

Per "The PDR (Physician's Desk Reference )Pocket Guide to Prescription Drugs", fainting can be a side effect, but here is specifically what is said: " Side effects of Xanax are usually seen at the beginning of treatment and disappear with continued medication. However, if dosage is increased, side effects will be more likely."

It's calming you down in a sense. I have taken Xanax for years and never had the symptoms of this sort. Maybe, your dosage is to high.
