Possibly - if Spinks is allowed to bring a baseball bat.

It's surprising to me that Spinks is only a 9 to 1 underdog. I would think it should be more like 15 or 20 to 1.

Not only is Spinks too small to take punches (he was effectively knocked out twice by a 147 lbs Zab Judah who started out as a junior welter) from a VERY big 160 lbs Jermain Taylor (who is a natural super middleweight in my opinion), Cory is also quite feather fisted as evidenced by his mere 11 KO victories out of 38 professional fights.

Add on top of the physical disadvantages, the fact that the future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins could not win a decision against Taylor in two tries shows us that either Taylor can overcome superior boxing skills or Taylor has the favor of the judges, or most likely both.

All of that adds up to the conclusion that the only way Cory Spinks has a chance to beat Jermain Taylor is if he is allow to bring with him to the ring an aluminum baseball bat.

Very unlikely, Jermain played it as safe as he could in choosing Spinks. Corey would have to pull a rabbit out of the hat and KO Taylor, most including the blogbaba don't think he has the power to hurt Taylor. Size is the deciding factor, a good big man beats a good little man in this one. If Corey makes it to the decision, it will be a victory of sorts for Spinks just to avoid getting KOed by Taylor.

This fight is a mismatch. Spinks is not naturally a middleweight. Taylor has been fighting at Middleweight his whole pro career. It will be another De La Hoya vs Hopkins a fighter going up to many weight classes and getting embarrassed. Taylor KO by 9.
