It's the first time I buy or eat this food. Can you give me instructions of how to cook it, or what to combine it with, generally how to eat it? Thanks.

i like to cut it into cubes and stir fry it with veggies in a wok with some sesame oil. or you could coat it very lightly with flour after cuting it into cubes and fry it in regular oil until its golden brown on the outside...then just eat it plain dipped in soy sauce.

Is it packed in water? If so, you will usually want to get the water out of it first. Place the tofu on a pate, and put another plate on top of the tofu. Then, weight down the top plate a bit with a tea kettle or some other kind of heavy thing.
Once the water is out of it, you'll be able to get more flavor into it. You can cut it into cubes or slabs, marinade it in vinegar, oil, soy sauce and herbs and then simply bake it for a yummy snack. You can cube it up and put it in stir fry in place of meat. If you freeze it, it gets a firmer texture and can be used in a chili or something that would have ground beef in it. You can crumble it and put it in lasagna or something. There are tons or recipes out there as well...if you do a google search of 'tofu recipes' I'm sure you'd find a lot.

Get some ground pork, green onions, cilantro, and a package of seasoning sauce (will explain later). Cook the ground pork thoroughly add the tofu and seasoning sauce and cook for 5 minutes covered stirring every so often. turn off heat and add green onions and cilantro and stir. Add salt and black pepper to taste. and if you want eat it with rice.

Now the seasoning sauce. You can find it a a Asian Farmers Market. go to the seasoning and sauce aisle and look for a package call "Minced pork with tofu" it'll come in mild or hot and you can get whatever to your taste.

Plus tofu is good for your health.

Stir Fry....

As long as it's firm tofu this will be a treat

Mix some soy sauce, ginger and garlic in a bowl
Cube the tofu and marinate in the mixture.

Then use in a stir-fry instead of meat. The marinade really makes it taste great

Yummo!

First off it should be of the extra firm variety, then you slice it into 1/4 inch pieces & marinate it in any teriaki sauce overnight... put olive oil in a preheated skillet & brown the tofu until outside is crisp... add any chopped vegetables, including, peppers (red, yellow, orange & green), onions, bok choy, spinach, snow peas, broccoli... sautee for 10 to 15 min... pour over white rice or eat alone... enjoy!

Make miso soup with it. Yum!

INGREDIENTS:
3 cups dashi soup stock
1 block tofu
3-4 tbsps miso paste
1/4 cup chopped green onion

PREPARATION:
Put dashi soup stock in a pan and bring to a boil. Cut tofu into small cubes and add them to the soup. Simmer the tofu for a few minutes on low heat. Scoop out some soup stock from the pan and dissolve miso in it. Gradually return the miso mixture in the soup. Stir the soup gently. Stop the heat and add chopped green onion. Remember not to boil the soup after you put miso in.
*Makes 4 servings

Try throwing it in a stir fry with your favorite veggies and a sauce you like (teryaki or something). Throw it in long enough to warm through and you should be good. Make sure there is plenty of flavor with the veggies you throw in because tofu has little.

well, depending on how you want to eat it, the ones served at thai or chinese restaurant is simply fried in oil, but to go with the healthier way, cut in to a 1" by 1" cubes, sprinkle little salt on them, make sure you get most of the water off before you fry them on the frying pan. add little EVOO on frying pan, cook them till they are golden brown on both sides (takes about 3-4 min.) then use soy sauce to dip them in... simple and good.. if you like spicy, then add some paprika flakes to the soy sauce for little kick/ or minced fresh jalapeno.
hope it helped

Look on epicurious.com for "Hot and sour soup". I leave out the dried mushrooms and add hot sesame oil. It's so great. And it's the best stuff for a cold. I swear it can cure anything. But there's diced tofu in it. And it tastes like anything you put it in.
