I have to assume that you are referring to organized religion, not the belief in God and Jesus. If that is what you mean, I agree wholeheartedly. God and Jesus must be the center of all that we do because it is only by God's grace and love that we have the opportunities that we have been offerred. I am as you can tell, not a big fan of organized religions because they are made by man and each man has interpreted the scriptures to mean something different therefore causing derisiveness between the various denominations. I know that this was not the intent of Jesus when he came to us.
God Bless..

Actually the point of that verse is that "we" are completely enslaved by religion. What we do does not matter at all. Whether or not we are decent people or serial murdrers is no odds. We are no longer morally responsible for ourselves - everything depends on whether we have been "called" and "saved."
This is why people say that Christianity is the very antithesis of morality.

Amen, However it is not a ticket to live in sin either. Read Romans Chapter 6 Verse 15 - 18. Take care and may GOD bless you spiritually.

Religion is self-righteousness. No one can set you free of this except you. There are plenty of saved people who fall into religion by thinking that they have a better way than what is in the Bible. Pride draws people into religion, that is trying to get to God and any other means than Jesus Christ. Salvation does not cure anybody of the temptation of religion. Belief in Christ makes you immune to damnation in hell, but it does not make you immune from temptation and adversity. The surest way to avoid developing a religious spirit is to obey God's commandments and love thy neighbor as thy self, and stay in the word of God. Say no to temptation, look upon adversity as a blessing and stay away from what you know to be evil.
