My 1 year old pit/lab named Marley does a bunch of different things that I love... After she gets a bath, she runs around the house like a nutcase before i can even completely dry her... Whenever I grab a plastic bag she RUNS to the door because she knows she's going on a walk... When she wants to play and you're not paying attention to her she'll bring a toy, put it on your lap, and either lay down and sit as if to say "hey I'm being a good girl, play with me!"... and a whole bunch of other cute stuff... Share your stories!

Big Red -- I absolutely love your dogs and I haven't even met them! They sound like a bunch of characters!

I remembered something else that I love about my dog... Whenever I start putting my shoes on to leave for work or wherever and she knows I'm not taking her with she steps all over my feet and sits on them to try to stop me, hehe. Also, she'll lay on the floor until I decide to lay on the couch with my boyfriend, then she jumps up and lays with us, even if there's only a square inch of room, she finds a place for herself!

Dogs are awesome!

My dogs react so strongly to the word "point"
They run around and whine because they know that I am getting the laser pointer to go play outside.

when they are happy to see someone come into the house, they go into the "beg" position.

Same here with wanting to play, they get a toy and drop it on our lap.... one of the two will even bring us his rawhide bone, lay it on our lap. and wait for us to give it back to him, as if to confirm that it's okay that he is eating it.

one of the two responds to the word "ow" he puts his paw on your leg and digs in his nails a bit... as soon as you saw ow, he takes it off.... so cute,.

You have to understand that my 2 dogs are 130 lbs Rotties.

Love'm to death.

I love when my dog makes a decision to dump the trash. She has a funny way of doing this.

She knows she is not supposed to dump it, and knows she will be yelled at if she does, so she will make an effort to weigh out if it is worth the trouble. I have a wicker pail that by design has some round openings in the top. She will peek through the openings since she cannot reach the top without being obvious about it to see if there is anything specific that she wants in the can. If there is, she will look around and see if anyone is watching, if so, she'll wait until you look away to jump up and knock it over.. if you are not watching you will hear the thud in the next room.

I love how she has a whole thought process in doing this action. It is the cutest quirk.. To the point I can't even yell at her anymore..

We have three dogs - a 12 yr old shih-tzu, a 6 yr old toy poodle, and a 6 yr old Lhasa/shih-tzu mix. They are all characters. When the shih-tzu, GiGi, was younger, I used to take her to a park every day for a walk. She thought she owned the place, and put every dog she came in contact with in it's place. She put the fear of God into the biggest of dogs. She would bark her little head off at them, and they would retreat with their tails between their legs!! Now she's older, and she farts every time you pick her up...it's soooo funny!! The toy poodle, Ashley, is a real character. She'll run and get her rawhide bone, and flip her head in the air and toss the bone around...she does the same thing with her toys. When she is feeling affectionate, she crawls into your lap, standing, puts her arms around your neck and smothers you with kisses, whether you want them or not. She sometimes lays on her back, puts her two front paws together as if she is praying, and thrusts her front paws out repeatedly and makes little yipping noises. We have yet to figure out what she is doing. The Lhasa, Nanna, we just acquired about 2 months ago. She sits up on everything. One morning, when I was sleeping on my back, I awoke to a pressure on my stomach, and there she was, sitting up on my stomach. She also has the quirkiest little bark.

There is never a dull moment in our house! We also have 3 cats!

I love when we get back from a nice long walk my two dogs wait till I either lay on the floor to watch some TV or sit in my recliner. If I lay on the floor the Chow/mix lays by my feet and the ESS lays next to me. When I sit in the recliner they lay on either side of me.

The reason I love this is simple; I have done my job right and they respect me and show their appreciation. It's like coming back from a hunt and we are all tired and we sit (lay) next to each other and rest. Which is what a "pack" will do.

The other day, when I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, my 2 German Shepherd females climbed in the tub together. I guess they decided that enough was enough, it was time for a bath! This is very odd behavior for both of them. Normally, when they hear the shower running they head for the hills. I had been waiting for help from either my husband or son to bathe them because my back has been hurting, but no such luck, I was on my own, and had to give them both baths at the same time! They were pretty happy when they were finished and romped outside in the sunshine to dry off.

My 6 year old female Lab loves to play...I've got your glove game. This is a winter game...I'll come into the house with coat, scarf, hat and gloves on. As I take off my gloves I'll hold one just so...and Tess will grab it and step back with a twinkle in her eyes, tail wagging really fast, ready to run. I quickly take off coat etc. then say MY GLOVE!!! mockingly. and the chase is on. She runs all around the house, with me chasing after her, pretending to really want that glove...make grabs for it, let my hand run along her body and tail. Finally I get tired, and I say enough...and Tess follows me to the kitchen and treat jar. She is still holding my glove. I get out a treat, she gives me my glove and she gets a treat.

Another thing she does is have a celebration with me at the end of agility runs with her, we share in the fun and exileration of it. She spins and does little jumps, eyes twinkling all the time. I rough her up a little in the celebration, we both have a blast.

Sounds like your pit/lab would be a good agility dog. She clearly recognizes cues.

Good Question!!!!!!!

Where to start?! It is funny when my German Shepherd eats flies and bugs.. he chases them around the house.. though the clawmarks 5 feet up on the wall arent so funny.
He also has a bedtime ritual, where EVERYTIME I let him in the room when I go to bed he jumps up and tries to wrestle himself under the covers. (he is 90 lbs)
Whenever he gets caught doing something he shouldnt he runs to the nearest object and pretends he was just smelling it.. (sometimes I dont catch him but know he was up to no good from the sniffing)
When he is trying to be up to no good he pretends to sleep next to whatever he wants to get into... Even if it is a pizza on a table, and his hind legs are on the floor and he is "sleeping" with the top half of his body on the table.
Wags tail at about the speed of light when he plays dead.
Before I switched his food his gas was soo bad that it would wake him up in the middle of the night.. he would stick his nose up in the air... sniff.. get up and lay down somewhere that didnt stink..
The other thing that is probably the funniest is when he plays with my sisters pomaranian.. (pookie) he lets her chase him around the house, and lets her sneak up and steal his food. (one kibble is a meal for her being that she is only 5 lbs) When he sniffs her he pushes her across the floor with his nose, and when she gets mean he puts his paw on her, holds her there for a couple seconds.. then runs away.

Some of the things I like about my dogs are:

They communicate. They knock to come in and go out. They knock for each other if the other has a hurt paw and can't knock. My calm dogs knock for my "needy" dog so I'll let him in when he's scared of being outside.

They play and are very funny. I love to watch them play with each other, and even let the smallest one have a turn at being the dog on top, pretending he's winning the battle.

There are many other things, but these stand out.

Well i have 5 dogs and they all have quirks i love, one of my dobes lays on the sofa with me and presses her head against my pregnant belly and wriggles if i stop patting her accompanied by a little huffy whine.
The other dobe, she gets up on my outdoor furniture, in the sun, with her front feet on the table with her back feet on the chair and if its a nice sunny day, she falls asleep standing up, you can see her head starting to droop and her back legs start to crumple.
My female springer spaniel is neurotic about her ball, if any of the other dogs touches it, she gives them a snap and takes the ball, drops it in her kennel, then parks herself in front of the door, sulking.
My big boy bull arab, 213lbs, is an absolute clown, what a sight to see this huge dog rolling on the ground, all 4 legs in the air, then the cat approaches, and he freezes, on his back, while the cat stalks around him, waiting to get the tail.
My lab cross has ruined the door of my car, as soon as i grab the keys and his lead, only his, he tries to bite the door handle trying to get in quicker.
With 5 dogs, theres 5 times the entertainment to be had from them, the amount of stupid stories i have, i could write a book on the perils of owning 5 different breed dogs, all large.

My corgi mix likes to hit my foot with her paw to get my attention when she wants to play. So cute. She also nibbles on my toes to get my attention. She's the sweetest thing ever! And I love it when I get home from work. She's always SO happy to see me. Her tail just does't stop wagging. She makes me smile even when I have a bad day. When I bring her out to walk her, she wants to cuddle first and be lovey dovey. Then she'll go potty. She also tries to protect me from the neighbor's cat. That's pretty funny.
