The devil is in the details here.
He did openly say he was the son of God.
But then he says that we are all of Gods children.
Some bible translations say that he says that he is God.
But the difference between the translations of 'being someone' or 'being of/from someone' is in debate.
So, the church does what it always does best. It takes the one they like best.
so
The bible asserts that Jesus IS God or
it asserts that Jesus is the SON of God or it asserts that we all are sons and daughters of God.
I personally use other evidence in the bible to clearify.
Since Jesus prays to his father (God) often I reason that he is the son of God.
If he was the one and only God, he would not need to pray to himself.
The 3 in 1 God thing? The Holy Trinity?
The idea was brought in by the early pope's to explain away why Jesus prayed to God even though they stated he was God.
As far as I can assern: There is 1 all mighty God, there is also his son and something called a holy spirit.
If you read Rev. there are other heavenly people/beings/things as well.
3+ divine entities
with God being in charge.

Although the years of Jesus life prior to his becoming active in a preaching sense are very sketchy in the Bible, I assume by what little we do know that Jesus did go about God's work from an early age. Just as it was reported that at age 12 he went into the temple and spoke with authority to those that would listen.
To my knowledge, Jesus never did specifically say that he was God. He did however refer to God as his Father on several occasions.
Jesus also referred to the Holy Spirit coming to live within his people. This makes up the trinity of being(s) that comprise the Christian faith. I can not say whether or not Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are all of one entity (in three parts) or are three seperate entities of one mind (idea, thoughts, desires etc.) Either way is fine with me.

I guess he was busy being a carpenter because in those days men under 30 were considered inmature (we still are so today, specially for insurance purposes).
But what people forget is that in order for a man to be considered a prophet or a teacher ("Rabi") the man had to be not only 30 years of age or older, he also had to be married.
And why Jesus had to hide himself from the world around him. He could have proven his Divinity beyond reasonable doubt by showhing hims to everyone, instead to just a few of his followers?

No. He also didn't tell anyone he was God after he was 30. Since he's NOT God. Jesus is God's son - not God Almighty.

I wasn't there, I didn't see, I didn't hear, I'm Doubting Thomasina...
except what I doubt is the veracity of texts written years after his occurrence on this earth- if he wasn't human, it wasn't a life on earth-
and I doubt that memory is crystal clear. In fact, there are psych studies that will PROVE that the mind does not always know what it sees, saw, or reported having seen at the time, moments or weeks or months later.
So, I have absolutely no idea what the answer to your question is- and neither does Anyone but Jesus himself.

After His baptism, fasting and temptation, He annouces His ministry, as recorded in Luke 4:
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth
14Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15He taught in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
16He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read. 17The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18"The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed,
19to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."[e]
20Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, 21and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."

Did you not remember all that stuff in the bible BEFORE he was crucified,
you know going from nation to nation, spreading the word of love.
Healing, helping, caring.
And he never really boasted, it's not respectfull to boast, and jesus was known for respecting people.
