It is a federal education initiative that stresses the importance of having students meet specified guidelines.. Student achievement is measured by a series of standardized tests. While this initiative looks good on paper, it has some serious flaws. Teachers often teach to the tests in order to ensure success. After all, if students pass, the school receives a passing grade and receives federal funding. If schools fail in meeting the standards, they do not get the federal aide money. Really, it all goes back to the money. If schools decided they didn't want the federal money, they would not have to participate in NCLB. SO is it about the students or the money????

"President Bush signed the No Child Left Behind Act on January 8, 2002. The law helps schools improve by focusing on accountability for results, freedom for states and communities, proven education methods, and choices for parents"
Its a law focusing on equality in standards of children's education.
Why not check out this Wikipedia article which goes into great detail on what it is.....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Child_Left_Behind

It is a Bush Republican Plan to uneducate the general public by trying to force as many kids as possible into religious schools that focus on interrupting the Bible in literal and fundamentalist manner.
The bottom line is that they view religion and governance of the United States as only properly done if it is based on the narrow minded view of a few myopic fundamentalists leaders who view themselves as the leading edge of sanity in the world.
The scary part is the this group is controlled by very strong paternalistic and militaristic old men who see themselves as Superior and more righteous than all the other people in the World.

It is a Federal program regarding education. It was started by President Bush. It's basically propoganda, to encourage the nation to improve their school system, so that "no child is left behind".

It is a government program designed to help students achieve better grades in reading. The premise being that if you can read the instructions you can do pretty much anything. The downside is that no matter how bad your childs grades are or how much they don't care and don't try, they probalby will not be held back unless you walk into the school board and tell them to do it.

A catchy phrase used by politicians to dupe people into believing that they are capable of doing something that no one on earth has ever done before. Sadly, there will always be children in need who fall through the cracks of our society.
If there's a way to bypass or work around a law, unscrupulous people will find it.

An excuse to pass children on to a higher grade even though they can't even pass the one they're in. Basically if not enough children pass, then the school loses funding, so the school will pass your kid even though they shouldn't. It's a ridiculous law. All it does is further dumb down the youth of America

it's George Bush's expectation that EVERY child will be able to read by the third grade. Too bad he didn't take into account nonverbal children, or other children who are in special education.
