Depends, I suppose. If the sacrifice wasn't necessary I'd probably feel ambivalent. If they don't want anything in return I may feel honored and touched; if they tried to use their effort for a guilt trip to control me or get me to adore them (still a form of control) I'd go from various shades of annoyed to really angry.
Edit: but I'd never feel responsible and would remain uncontrollable. I only accept what is freely given.

It depends on why the sacrifice is made, what it was for, and what specifically the other sacrificed. "big big" is a relative issue--when Bill Gates donates a million dollars to a charity, that may actually be a relatively smaller sacrifice than a poor family that donates $20 to their local church.

Of course I'd be very grateful. I might even feel like I didn't deserve it, depending on what is was. I'm the type of person though I would rather help someone else than have someone help me though. Are you asking about something specific that happened?

Annoyed because now this person is expecting me to give my life, nay, my soul to them as payment for something I didn't ask for nor want in the first place.
Reminds me of those people that come up to your car at a stop light and just start washing your windshield without asking you first and then expect money for it.

If he meant it to be good for me no matter what the results are I would feel responsible but grateful. Responsible because he took the risk for me without my agreement so I would feel really bad for myself for letting this happen. Grateful because it was for my own good and he did it to help me not to pull me down or something

I would feel just like a person who worshiped the SUN god Mithra felt in Pagan Rome.

Thankful. And the biggest gift you can give back is a sincere "thank you". When you give something isn't a thanx what makes you feel good?

What's your point? You didn't ask God to send a savior so you don't feel you need one?
