I just signed a 1 year lease on an apartment on Franklin ave in crown heights just below Eastern Parkway. I was wondering if it was a safe area...Ive heard mixed things. Im white and so is my girlfriend Just wanted to hear from people there thoughts or should we break lease and go somewhere else?!?!?

I wouldn't have done it but there are still worse neighborhoods that that. Let's just say it's not exactly safe but if it's a great apartment and affordable than I'd say try sticking it out for the year. I've never broken a lease but if that's something you can do and you can easily afford a better neighborhood then move now. There's no reason to live over there if you can afford something better but these days it's hard to find an apartment anywhere. I know a few girls who grew up in that neighborhood but they were Lubavitchers so they "fit in" and didn't have any problems. Just hope for the best but expect the worst....(or move if you easily can afford it)

Ouch...Thats not that great.....I lived on Prospect between franklin and classon and it was ok at best. I would try to get out of that lease if you can and go closer to park slope.
