I used to put in salt and butter because that was what the package said to do. When I started becoming health conscious I kicked out the butter. Result? Totally the same taste but less fat. Can I get an AMEN!

(That doesn't mean that when I'm done with the rice I don't usually drown it in sodium- soy sauce)

P.S. If you are also health conscious try the same thing with macaroni and cheese and stuffing mix.

I usually do rice pilaf.
Saute up a chopped onion and some chopped mushrooms in olive oil. Add the rice and toast a bit in the oil. Add broth and a bay leaf. Cook as usual.

Or Florentine Rice
Rice cooked in broth with fresh spinach. The usual way. Then finished with a bit of Parmesan cheese.

the project with doing this with an oven is loss of moisture. The rice would have a tendency to dry out the longer it somewhat is in the oven. What you will possibly do is poach the calzone, which skill putting it in aluminum foil with some water. The water boils and keeps the calzone from drying out. this is an rather complication-loose thank you to poach fish, with butter particularly than water, on a grill excellent... I do this with salmon often. You quite make a bag out of aluminum foil this is loosely sealed and is bigger off the food on excellent and facets. positioned the aluminum bag onto a cookie sheet or different baking pan to furnish help over that supplied with the aid of an oven shelf. upload some herbs and garlic and different seasonings to the bag to strengthen well-known flavor.

If you're looking for something fun, substitute a couple Tablespoons of lime juice for water at the every end of cooking (like the last 10 minutes before all the water is absorbed) and some parsley flakes. Its YUMMY and adds a nice flavor to Mexican dishes.

Cook rice in chicken or veggie broth, and use olive oil rather than butter. Olive oil is better for you. You might want to try a bit of sesame oil for a richer taste.

Country Crock Shedds Spread Margerine & Chicken Broth instead of water. I always add the margerine in addition to the chicken broth, this makes the rice extra moist and tasty!
