Funny, I've *never* had an atheist try to tell me what to believe or bully me. Quite the opposite I've had atheists show me more courtesy and respect than most religious folk, which is amusing.

I imagine if I was the preaching sort, I would have a different experience. I'm of the opinion that people should have different opinions and ways of viewing the world because that's what makes life interesting.

However, I get (fundie) Christians and (fluffie) Wiccans jumping on questions I post telling me how I should believe and sending me hate mail. It seems to be the more religious a person is, the more they want to control other people's thoughts and actions.

I have just been responding to some of the atheist questions lately saying the same thing!! Why do these non-believers in anything want so badly to make fun of other people's beliefs and try to turn them into non-believers?? Why do they care what someone Else's religion is so much? It almost has an evil feeling to it! I just tell them to mind their own business!

Atheism, in the broadest sense, is the absence of belief in the existence of gods. Other definitions combine this absence of belief with belief in the nonexistence of gods, or simply with the conscious rejection of theism.
i guess they try to make people change their minds because their beliefs are highly strong, they feel truth as do Christians, Jews, muslims,..etc....

Same reasons why the thesists here are always jumping all over the atheists.

I believe in God but not religion..my problem with religion (besides the fact that it is the root of all evil) is that the "faithful" try to force their beliefs upon me and change my country's laws to make me live as THEIR rules say no matter what anyone else believes.

If they would just enjoy their religion and leave others alone then maybe the atheists would not feel the need to attack the religious to protect themselves or vent their frustrations

Read the answers from the Christians to your question.

Consider that they are very very wrong.

Imagine that was all the information you, or anyone else, had as to what sort of people atheists tend to be. Wouldn't you be inclined to step in and at least get your own version out there?

I have never tried to get anyone to change his or her mind. I present the facts as I know them, after decades of study, experience and conversion, and I call people on the lies they put forward as truth.

Respect my thinking enough to really listen to it and I'll respect you.

I don't want to change anyone's mind. People have the right to believe whatever they like. I only get angry when said beliefs are used as a means to hatred and intolerance.

I personally could care less as to what you or anybody else believes or doesn't believe. All that I ask is to be left alone. I don't like being harassed by people trying to convince me to join their religion and believe how they believe.

It's not just Atheists that try to change our minds... if you really think about it, everytime someone thinks or believes different than you, they try to influence you. People just want their way to be accepted, but the bible tells us to be a witness, but it also states that we should not judge... So without forcing your oppinions just cassual state how you feel about it!
