I sincerely hope all of you are joking about the dog stuff.

Back when we were still more apelike, we probably did have fangs. Our jaw structure has changed considerably since then. Personally, I would have rather kept the fangs.

Well, we DON'T share the same sort of diet... even though we should. Apes diets are based around plants, fruits, leaves, etc. etc. Only on occasion do they eat things like meat, and then, they eat it raw. We, on the other hand, have been cooking and meddling with our food for hundreds if not thousands of years... and (unfortunately) our diets now are based around processed foods and cooked meats... things canine teeth are not particularly of use with. We have no need for them, because we do NOT live in the wild any more, and do NOT have to rip and tear flesh on the occasions we consume meat. All that said, the fact that ours do not resemble apes currently is more proof than any that we have evolved... we still have them, they have just changed based on our need (rather, lack of need) for them.

and why are they called canine teeth?

uh oh, i know where this is going - you're going to say that we evolved from wolves cause we have claws and fangs - but maybe we haven't completely evolved, maybe we're werewolves!!!!

God figured that we could use that kind of tooth for biting and cutting our food - so He made them that way. Coincidentally, canines also eat and need to bite and cut their food, so God made their teeth to work for their eating too! Pretty intelligent of Him to design us all that way, huh?
